Number 5 on my design wish list is for those people around the world still struggling to rebuild their lives after catastrophic natural disasters.

The Heart of Haiti collection at Macy’s helps provide relief for survivors of the January 2010 earthquake that devastated that island nation. Haitian artisans craft these bowls and candle holders from oil drums that wash up from the sea, which they then hammer flat, cut and shape into one-of-a-kind pieces.

I love these! I also love the colorful fish-shaped trays and the Market and Sacred Forest canvas prints — imagine the fun and colorful room one could create with these items!

I Want to give a suggestion to HGTV. Enough of the Home Buyers Network shows. The upcoming year I would love to see your designers come up with homes that have functionality. I'm talking about homes that have a room where there is a TV, exercise capability (can be hooked up to TV), computer and any other creative way where families can go to be together. A place where the family can go to nurture and just be together. A home library with a computer, TV, etc. A family experience home.
I also want to suggest you emphasize singles communities, young retired communities, and facilities throughout America where elderly people live a full life just by living there and partaking in the activities offered. HGTV needs a new theme – bringing America Home. Thanks, have a nice day.

I have a new respect for Macy's for helping the people in Haiti, and at the same time showing us what beautiful art they can create no matter what they are going through.

Interesting art, I am glad that Macy's is helping out, maybe more stores can join in.

  5. I am glad to see Macys helping showcase haitian art work. The artists on this island are very talented and it is unfortunate that the conditions of the country have affected tourism and continuously prevented them from showcasing their talent to the world. Thanks Macys.
