I arrived in Paris early Thursday morning to attend the Maison & Objet trade show, an international exhibit of home decor featuring the world’s most talented designers.

It’s been an exciting four days filled with the latest in home textiles, global design, interior decoration and accessories. Today, I had to tell you about the amazing work of the one of the designers being recognized this year for his outstanding talent.

Edouard Francois

Edouard Francois is a pioneer in green architecture. His designs are like something out of Alice in Wonderland, marrying green materials with out-of-this-world architecture to create spaces that change the way we think about home and our environment.

Fouquets Barriere

Some of my favorite works that were highlighted include:

Fouquet’s Barriere, a rehabilitated palace with a modern edge that fits beautifully with the original design.

The Tower Flower

The Tower Flower, a construction of 30 housing units that look as if they are literally growing out of the ground. The perfect marriage between home and nature.

Club Med Almadies

And Francois’ Club Med Les Almadies design shows his desire to bring all of us closer to nature. In the south of Senegal, these bungalows become a part of the surroundings, use very little energy consumption, and have an ethereal nature that is absolutely breathtaking.

I am going to continue to explore Paris and all that the city has to offer and will be back tomorrow with more innovative and awe inspiring design from Maison & Objet.
