Maison & Objet: Ethnic Design

The Ethnic Chic section of Maison & Objet was by far my favorite, spotlighting luxurious materials, contemporary design and traditional global crafting techniques.

Neeru Kumar

You can see it all come together in this silk pillow and and hand-quilted Khadi from Neeru Kumar.

FeelFelt

These felt carpets by FeelFelt are like nothing I’ve ever seen. Made in Kyrgyzstan, they go beyond popular Suzani and Ikat prints, mixing candy colors like pink, orange, red and green.

Panel "Orange Lady"

Have you ever seen a wall panel with such a unique design? Yda Walt has a range of these handmade panels inspired by African imagery.

SZALAY

SZALAY takes Suzani from traditional quilts and and turns it into contemporary upholstery. I love these swivel chairs!

Neeru Kumar

This hand-quilted cover in red and mustard yellow has such a warm and cozy feel. Throw something like it on your bed for instant global style.
