  1. I would say that we're a little bit of both. We're both young college newlyweds, so while we love to make it a big event, a college student budget makes us get really creative. I study creative writing so I always write him poetry or really corny love stories and he studies art so he always crafts me something amazing. But then again, he always does the flowers and chocolates. But we always try to make each year different and unique. Flower petals would be a wonderful addition to the private festivities ;)

I'm a DIYer for dinner, dessert, and as much as I can. My husband is unemployed right now and home a lot, and he always likes to know what I'm working on, so it makes it really hard to be DIY for gifts. If I can't swing making him something, I put a lot of thought into finding a great gift to buy for him, and then I wrap it really nicely.

  3. Renee Brodman says:

I am mostly a store-bought Valentine gift giver :) I do try to make it as personal & special as possible though!! I am an old-school romantic & love the "movie-like" rose-petal Valentine suprise!!!

  4. Little bit of both. I like to get a card from the store that says it just right, but I like to bake and decorate DIY style for my loves.

  5. Admittedly I sway between the two… This year I will have to go store-bought as we've been tearing apart our house to remodel.

  6. Amy says:

I'm all about the DIY for Valentines!

  7. Diana says:

This year it will be a DIY Valentine's Day at our house.

  8. LAkers says:

I'm a DIY gift giver – typically gifts of food. However, one year I found a leather bound momento box that had and opening for a picture & place a picture of us in there & on the inside of the lid it read, "A picture is worth a 1,000 words but you're worth 1,001. I then counted out 1,001 Hershey Kisses & placed inside the box. I don't know whatever happened to that box & all the momentos we began putting in it. That was in high school & that was my "first love."

  9. Ann Cunningham says:

I am store bought perfection! I have to look at every card to make a decision on just the right sentiment! I also make things with beads…..unisex jewelry!

  10. Missi says:

Mostly DIY but do take help from the store too.

  11. VANSHIKA says:

MIX OF BOTH , BUY SOME STOREBOUGHT HEARTS,MAKE DESIGNS WITH GLITTER, HAVE A BOX FULL OF ROSE PETALSWITH A HEART TAB OVER THE DOOR DID THAT FOR HUBBY LAST YEAR& FOR FINISHING TOUCH FEW CANDLES LIT AROUND THE ROOM…

  12. DIANE says:

OH YES, I GET THINGS READY FOR MY HUBBY! A VALENTINE TUB SOUNDS GREAT! ESPECIALLY WHEN IT'S COLD. BUT I'M A WINTER PERSON. LOVE IT! ITS GETTING WARM HERE IN GA. I NEED TO GO BACK TO THE SNOW (VERMONT) FOR MY SWEETIE. IF ONLY DREAMS COME TRUE. I WISH MINE WOULD. NOT MANY PEOPLE LIKE WINTER! I HOPE I GET THE CHANCE. VERMOT IS BEAUTIFUL!!!!!
    GOOD LUCK ALL!!!!!!!

  13. kris1209 says:

I usually store buy cards-There are so many unique cards now….and my job and grad school take up too much time. Of course, I write something special…

  14. Carol Pulley says:

I would rather have a dollar per petal….to go out and be waited on…otherwise clean-up comes to mind…something women do all the time.!! Thanks Carol.

  15. Wanda says:

    I'm store bought perfection

  16. I'll always be the pay the 3.99 for a card kinda guy

  17. DIY and store bought for most occasions. I will buy a card but hand embellish it or buy a gift but hand decorate the wrapping. I have to admit though I don't usually celebrate V-day, everyday should be a v-day. It is too commercialized for me.

  18. Charlotte says:

I do whatever time allows me. Sometimes, unfortunately, I may not get to do anything because of time constraints. Sometimes, unfortunately, one or the other "forgets." But such is life and we don't fret because there's always the next day to celebrate our own little love! :x

  19. Rachael says:

I like to incorporate a little bit of both! Making my honey a wonderful dinner, giving him a beautiful card, and decorated everything with rose petals and Vanilla scented candles. Growing up, my mom always made any holiday a special event. She would make us each (7 kids total) a handmade Valentines card with a little gift, either handmade or store bought, and have a wonderful meal prepared by the time we all came home. I hope to someday pass that tradition on to any children I have.

  20. just1girl says:

I might buy the card but everything else that goes into a romantic evening is all thought up & set in motion by me. I did make my sweetie a card ONE time. He had asked me to marry him & we had been engaged for a couple of years but had no date set. When I finally decided on a day, I took him out to dinner & gave him a card that I made that started with "You are invited to your wedding..". He cried, I cried. It was very sweet, romantic and unforgettable.

  21. AllieKat says:

I'm a DIY handmade Cupid, with a little bit of store-bought thrown in for good measure.

  22. Carrie Conley says:

Valentine’s Days always store-bought perfection….I have no imagination

  23. tracey says:

I'd always rather make cards and gifts myself. It shows that you've put thought, care and time to make something more personal. And I always prefer to get something made from the heart.

  24. Emily says:

Nothing shows you care like DIY. The most special gifts are those that are personal and they mean so much. DIY can include something store bought, I think it's the creativity factor that's important. I think you should ask what would you do with 6000 rose petals……oh the possibilities!!

  25. Rhiannon Malone says:

Definitely a DIY kind of girl! I love my husband and I want to put everything I can into making everything for him perfect all the time! Being able to make something by myself makes it feel like it has more meaning to it for both me and my husband and it definitely helps the heart grow fonder

  26. pamsgoofy says:

I am always a DIY'r , though now disabled it is more challenging.

  27. pamsgoofy says:

DIY r for valentine's ay and every holiday.

  28. nikia carter says:

I do a mix- a store bought card with a DIY dinner- something different, gourmet-ish and sure fire way to knock his socks off (pun intended). I also have a DIY dessert, you can never go wrong by saying I love you with SUGAR! ALSO flowers they always always always add a nice touch, I wish I could afford to have a fresh arrangement delivered to my office everyday.

  29. omcrider says:

DIY!! Homemade chocolates, cookies, valentines and little gifts say a lot more than something bought. These are things right from the heart and not what everyone else is getting.

  30. Coffeegrl says:

I am 1/2 DIY and 1/2 Store Buyer. Love to give people homemade goodies but Sweethearts (in the box) are a must and who can resist a delicious cherry Jelly Heart???? Happy Heart Day everyone…. : – )

  31. Beth says:

Always handmade! It started many years ago when my Dad always hand wrote a card or note with candy for his four daughters. Our valentine tradition is a valentine treasure hunt with a small gift at the end.

  32. Miracle says:

Honestly speaking I am a last minute type of person when it gets right down to it (handmade & bought). My husband has a very busy schedule. I find it very difficult to plan anything during February. I like to get ideas from others and if it's not too late then I will try it. We bought a new whirlpool spa two years ago and I can definitely see those rose petals inside it this year! Something different and special would help. My step-daughter's wedding anniverary is on the 14th and I would like to plan something special for them

  33. kristen says:

DIY all year long!! i Love Valentine's dAY!!!!

  34. kathryn says:

DIY all the way!! So much more special!

  35. collateraldp says:

    DIY all the way!!

  36. Reneah says:

I've always been a DIY… my Mom was a great teacher, I learned the value of giving Heart Gifts(she called them) and my kids learned from me… It don't matter what holiday it is, a Gift from the Heart is always something speical, Hand Made with Love.. Oh I do the store thing too.. A rose or another gift, but nothing could be better then a Valentine card full of love and made from the heart. A cake in the shape of a heart with pink coconut on top, and the card I made setting right there beside it.. all those feelings, all the memories that went into making both.. Now that's a Heart Gift… One that Touch's Your Heart and Theirs.. __Yep im DIY all the Way!

  37. candodeb says:

I am definitely a DIY'er! It extends to all areas of my life. I buy something simple and then use my creativity to step it up a notch. For example a simple store bought coffee mug becomes a wonderful gift when it is stuffed with homemade bisccotti's, a chocolate dipped spoon and a couple of dove heart shaped chocolates all wrapped together in cello wrap and finished with a wire ribbon bow. Yoila! Happy Valentines Day!

  39. Denae says:

I am a DIY and a store bought kind of girl. I have made artwork and cards etc, but I also like to throw in something useful, like new shirts or shoes or something cool. We live on a farm so we don't always have time to make something for each other.!

  40. Michelle says:

A little of both. I love to make my own cards or Valentine crafts for my loved ones. I also will purchase a little something to go with it.

  41. Jrmorgan says:

I Love DIY, and since my hubby falls short on valentines day I would love to take the bull by the horns this V day

  42. Charlene says:

Bright red construction paper hearts cut out with a blunt scissor were my lopsided Valentine’s cards as a child. Now 30 years latter my Valentines are still handmade and a bit more sophisticated but still have the same amount of mushy, gushy love behind each and every design. My husband and I were married on Valentines which makes the Holiday one of my favorites.

  43. Lisa says:

Best Valetine's Day? The year I rescued one of my loving dogs from a shelter! My heart never felt better! Meg, the pit bull, is such a loving creature, It's like celebrating Valentine's Day every day with her sweet disposition and wagging tail greeting me at the door at day's end!

  44. spen082 says:

I try to DIY but it never turns out exactly how I want it, so its straight to the store for me. :)
