I wish I could say I am a DIYer, but Im so not creative in gift giving that I have to admit I go store bought….

  2. Darlene says:

I do both, I might find something in a store but put my own personal touches on it. I never do anything that you could just buy in a store. I might buy an old vase or pot from a vintage store and put some store bought flowers or seeds in it and a new pair of garden gloves with a note written on them. I have given this to my mother-in-law who loves to do gardening. Make it personal and special to that person, remember interest, hobbies and activities they like.

  3. Angie Kaonohi says:

Definitely store bought, but I think it might be time to turn over a leaf and give DIY a try! Thanks for the fun ideas!

  4. tiffany says:

I'm a homemade type of girl!!

  5. Jackie Sauter says:

In my childhood days we would decorate white paper bags or shoe boxes to collect our valentines in, but I would usually get the store-bought valentines to give to my classmates. Nowadays, I know the value of homemade goodness and like to treat my hubby to a cute hand-made valentine :)

  6. Julie says:

I am DIY at heart, but 2 busy boys, a neurotic dog, and my job have made me a store bought valentine. I add homemade touches whenever possible.

  7. Katie says:

Both! I always make sure my Valentine's Day gifts are red, it could be a red shirt, boxers etc. It is a joke
with my children now that they are older! I do love to make my own Valentine's, nothing special, just something written.
I am from a family of 6 girls and one boy and I look forward every year to opening the mail box getting the valentine from my dad, he is 74 and he has not missed one Valentine's day for us. He goes to the store and buys a "special" one for each sibling and of course my mom. I would love to see him in action at the store!

  8. Linda says:

I have always believed that DIY had more love and meaning behind the giving!!

  9. Smubba says:

I'm a DIY Valentine-er, too. I make my own silly cards and have done French Toast cut into heart-shapes. But going out to a nice dinner as part of the whole day can also be fantastic! Happy Valentine's day, everyone!

  10. sherrie says:

DIY with maybe a bit of store bought goods to embellish. love love LOVE doing for others. That's what it's all about

  11. courtney says:

  12. jessica anger says:

    DIYer definetly!

  13. Holly says:

I'm a little bit of both.

  14. Rachel says:

I am a DIY, handmade cupid! I've always been in love with the idea of creating things by hand – it has more sentimental value that way! This year I'm creating my own collage video of our wedding photos along with a "date of the month" membership gift for my husband! Why go store bought when you can put your heart into something handmade?

  15. syjohni says:

Felt and craft paper all the way!

  16. Melissa M. says:

I like to DIY gifts for my loved ones, it makes it so much more special and memorable.

  17. I like to make the treats, the card and the decorations but I leave the dinner to the professionals. DIY dinner is not as lovely from a terrible cook.

  18. Teresa says:

Diy since we are always broke, but I don't usually get anything, since ge us always broke too and doesn't think about doing it himself ;)

  19. Teri Allgaier says:

DIY – and I try to make special meals for Valentine's Day for my family.

  20. Vesta Sterrenchock says:

Glitter is my favorite thing… home made Valentines, hearts with red glitter! I am also working on a special one of a birch grove in winter, some of the snowflakes will be red glitter. My husbands mom just past away 2 weeks ago, and she loved birch groves, so i am making a special Valentine for him and his siblings this year.

I'm a DIY diva! Cards and sweets! It's so much more fun to give and I hope to receive;0)

  22. LDP2011 says:

Since I could remember I was always making homemade cards, cookies, cakes for either a holiday, someone special, birthdays, etc. I am a HUGE supporter of the DIY. Nothing says 'I Love You' to friends, family, someone special than taking the time to make them something from the heart. My boyfriend and I have been together for five years and every holiday, birthday I have made him a card. His Valentine's 'cards' 'days' are always out of the box…every year I come up with something different. So this year I have something special brewing. =) Hope everyone has a wonderful Valentine's Day!! ;)

  23. Cherri Westbrook says:

I think handmade valentines are so special and you can individualize them so they are special for each of your valentines. In the past 3 years I have made handmade cards for my sweetie of 37 years. (We've been a couple since I was 13 and he was 15) but my boys and I made lots of homemade cards as they were growing up. I also teach kindergarten and I love having my five year olds make cards for each other. When you have 22 – 25 kids and they all make that many valentines you can imagine what our room looks like! The room sparkles from ceiling to floor. Valentines day is all about showing and sharing your love for others~I can't think of a more special way than rolling up your sleeves and jumping into a jar of glitter!! :)

  24. gbphipps says:

I am a definite DIY girl. My gifts are from the heart and my head and hands.

  25. Adrienne says:

I am a diy queen! Enjoy making things. The flowers do come from the store.

  26. nancy says:

I do a mixture of bought and made-depending on how much time I have

  27. Joanne Deschenes says:

I do whatever my heart pulls me to…. I remember giving my husband a circular saw one valentines day. I like to make things when I can…. I like to try new things….

  28. Ottyr says:

Definitely DIY – typically handcrafted Valentine's cards created in multiple dimensions with shadow boxes that now decorate sections of our home. There's nothing better than a truly one-of-a-kind gift. The only downside is that it causes jealousy among the wives in our circle of friends amd sometimes contempt from the husbands who couldn't craft their way out of a wet paper bag laying on it's side while holding a newly sharpened pair of Fiskars in one hand and a map in the other. Beyond the love my husband feels when receiving these, he's filled with pride in showing them off – amd that's priceless.

  29. Vee says:

I am making my Valentine's Day cards this year and they are turning out great! I've never made homemade cards before but I think I have a new hobby. :-) They have always been store bought in the past.

  30. Pat Marlow says:

DIY- of course! I love to make gifts personal- it adds more meaning to them.

  31. Raemarie Bellamy says:

i am definitely a DIY, example today is my birthday and as usual I have asked everyone that gives me gifts to make them as to me they are the most special when made from the heart, my honey is finishing mine up now for this evening and i am excited about seeing it! and will proudly display all that I receive

  32. wendy says:

DIY valentines. I create a whole atmosphere with a theme for Valentine's Day and it starts with the card, for example: an ticket that invites him to a private burlesque show. Then I dress up the house and then myself…Can't do that with Hallmark!! ;)
Would be fun to do something Bollywood with all those petals…

  33. DIY from the cards to dinner :)

  34. Susan Hale says:

Valentines Day is sad if you have no significant other to send you a card. I never thought about this as I'm married until I was talking to one of my older aunts whose husband passed away years ago. On a whim I decided to send her a valentines card. She was so happy and had tears because she said she hadn't had a valentines card in a MANY years. Her sons are busy with their families and never think to include her in this day. Now I remember her each V day. Remember the other women in your families.

  35. Jackie says:

Im a diy girl its always the best way to surprise your loved one.

  36. Nicole says:

I would be telling a huge fib if i say i always DYI. With divorced parents, my kids have what seems like a million grandparents, great grandparents and aunts/uncles. So, we always make dad a homemade card and color him a picture. We also buy DIY crafts in a box, such as picture frames the kiddos can decorate for the grandparents. Sometimes I even make things for my hubby, but usually he is not into hand made undies on V-day, the store bought ones are defiantly a winner.

  37. Delfie says:

I am a DIY Valentine myself I love to design and decorate all my gifts to my hunny an my family, I absolutely love to work with Rose pedals they are so romantic in many ways…I love em! especially in all different colors..The things I could do with them are endless..Always and forever a DIY fan <3

  38. Caitlin says:

I have always been a Homemade Valentine but I love to go all out !! From Romantic 4 course homemade meal for the Hubby with a decadent dessert to a Tea party with handmade Tea cookies for my children. The table all decorated with Valentine galore and Tea cups and plates.Yes I'm all heart when it comes to Valentines Day.

  39. piercca says:

I think of myself as a combo-plate! I usually look for interesting buys that I can use to create the look and feel I want to create for the love of my life. I may buy his Valentine, but the room and the food will be my very own creation. What a great day for celebrating our love!

  40. Ellen Byers says:

I like to make my own. It's more personal and fun.

  41. Do it yourself for me..
My favorite idea was I cut out me and my two boys' hands.. they were 2 and 3 at the time, and on each one wrote something I loved about my husband. Glued them on straws and glued on heart leaves, to turn them into red/pink and purple flowers, and put them in a pretty vase on the table. Sat it out with Husband's favorite meal, and desert and I dressed us (me and the kiddos) all up. And we greeted him at the door after work.. Oh and we also had some wine for after.

  42. Lenny says:

I am DIY with help from the store….it's hard to make a picnic basket but it makes for a nice V-Day when you have a romantic picnic in your living room.

  43. Elizabeth says:

DIY always, because things are made with LOVE! ^_~

  44. Toni says:

    Definitely a DIYer!

  45. Jessie P. says:

I now have a HELPER this year for the first time, my little baby can help make "DADDY" a Valentine! I'm so excited! It used to just be me covered in glittered cracking up laughing as I made it, but now I can share the joy in the holiday with my babygirl…it just warms my hearts knowing this one will be extra special.

  46. 29Buffs says:

I have few talents in the DIY area, so my Valentine's cards and gifts are store bought, albeit not for perfection–out of necessity. I do give of myself.

  47. Debbie says:

Some years they are more hand made and some years they are more store bought. Really depends on the time I have. I always hand make somrthing for my grandsons classes.

  48. Megan says:

I'm a bit of both. I buy some items but believe it is always necessary to make something from the heart, after all it's the thought and the emotion it brings that matters. :)

  49. Handmade cupid for life!

  50. Nikki Bernier says:

I like being a DIY cupid. Nothing says I love you more then hand made goodies; it's not about the money you spent but about the time you put into it.
