This week, Dan Faires builds a rugged coffee table with a touch of industrial chic.

For this simple DIY project, all you’ll need is reclaimed wood, casters and L-brackets.
Get the step-by-step instructions, and check back next Monday for another DanMade project.

This is a great table, but please read today's post to my blog called "Haiti needs to be HGTV'd." http://www.reinventingtheeventhorizon.wordpress.c…

DANMADE is my new favorite show on HGTV.com. Seriously, this guy needs a show. So cute, so talented.

It is good to see old wood being used for something constructive and useful rather than being dumped in a landfill or burned!! Great job Dan!!!
Amazing video!! He is so talented. He makes it seem so easy. I am definitely going to build one of these for my loft.
The coffee table is a really utilitarian take on an old necessity and goes well on the concrete floor, tile floors too as well as hardy plank wood floors. It'd look great equally in a man cave or a DIY BlogCabin environment as well possibly in an outdoor covered space with nice faux or stone floors.
I'm wondering if you have any ideas for where to get cheap reclaimed wood. Now that it's all the rage, pieces seem to be outrageously expensive. Ideas?
What did he do to the casters to make them look old??
Dan's the man. So glad to see he's working for HGTV. This is a nice project, a utilitarian object with a creative spin. NICE
Beautiful project and sooooo easy. Loved it!
I am a woman builder who has been building furniture out of salved items and salvaged wood for the past 13 years. I love to see shows where they make stuff, enough with the real estate shows. Check out my website http://www.thepolishedhammer.com.
Love the "green" aspect of this table. Yea for recycling and great design!!!

I love this table. It is so easy to put together. Now I hope I can find the wood. Thanks for this project. Keep them coming.
Love, love, love this! Many uses for a table is what I love…..can't wait to see the next idea. I love your simplistic approach of ideas and the way you explain how to do it. This is what HGTV began with. I hope they are returning to this concept…it's what us as viewers want to see. You need your own show! Thanks for continuing to inspire us.
Amazing coffee table!!! I want one too. Maybe someone I know will build me one. Love Dan's videos…we want more, more, more!
This guy is amazingly talented and not bad to look at either….no arrogance is refreshing! Give him his own show already!xD
It's a great-looking table. However, you might want to tell people to be sure to mix it as you have with a few light-colored and refined modern items. The setting is so important. It looks great with that white fur rug beneath that provides an intermission between the dark table and dark floor. I'm sure you know what I mean. Some people can get carried away, and a whole room-full of heavy dark furniture like this would be oppressive. Please use your website to teach your viewers a bit by making a point about the fundamentals of good design, simplicity, and restraint.
I was so upset when Dan was chosen to leave Design Star so early. Vern called him a contractor, not a designer!! I thought at the time taht was so rude and untrue. I can see by reading this blog how popular and talented other people think Dan is. He needs his own show!!

I can say that I'm seriously loving Dan!
Yes, I agree with Pat above. Vern obviously under estimated what Dan is capable of the on the show. Already just from these two videos we've seen more true artistic design than we did on all of Design Star season 5 because Dan got kicked off too early. I really hope HGTV sees something in him and gives him his own show because he's so inspiring to watch and easy on the eyes too! ;0)
I disagree, Dan should have gone home when he did, he never showed this side of him on the show. The first challenge his room was uninspired. The second challeg, he was just a handyman, he didn't design anything. The third challnge, he built what others designed and the fourth challenge he made "clusters." He was taken advantage of on the show by other competitors, which gave him no room for his individual voice and whenever he had an individual challenge, it was a flop.
Does anyone know how the wheels were finished? They look silver in the install but brown/rusted in the final shot? Ideas?
This book self is looks very beautiful and dashing. The best thing of its is, you can move it very easily from one place to other, and its colour is very beautiful and amazing.

I made this table. It came out beautifully. I stained it and polyurethaned for protection. The reclaimed wood was a little pricey but it really makes all the difference in aesthetics. Thanks Dan.
Nice, Mike! We're happy to see Dan inspired and instructed you toward a gorgeous end product!
