Gong Xi Fa Cai! Today marks the start of the Year of the Rabbit.

Typically my family celebrates the Chinese New Year with breakfast at our favorite dim sum restaurant in Atlanta. (The pushcarts keep coming and coming.) If we happen to be in New York, DC, LA, San Francisco or Toronto, you’ll find us enjoying the official Chinatown festivities. But as I’m not in any of those cities this year, I’m welcoming the Lunar New Year Etsy style.

I’ll also be preparing some scrumptious dishes with recipes from Food Network and dreaming of future celebrations abroad with inspiration from the Travel Channel. Handmade Chinese paper lanterns created with help from step-by-step instructions on the blog My Own Ideas will round out my decorations.

How you are celebrating (and decorating) today?
