“Single”, “In a Relationship”, “It’s Complicated”…no matter my Facebook relationship status, this girl loves her some Valentine’s Day. I go all out with cards, cupcakes, gifts and decorations. In fact, if it was up to me, I’d have one room in my home decorated as a year-round homage to the sweetest day of the year. I must not be the only one, because I keep coming across designs that look like they’re straight out of a Valentine’s Day card. Here are five of my favorites:

Isn’t this the most fantastic girl’s bedroom you’ve ever seen? This makes me wish I could be a tweenager again, maybe. I love the wide range of pinks incorporated into this design. And the orange and green poufs keep this space from looking like a Hollywood Barbie dressing room. If this room were a card, it would be the one that makes all of the kids in class jealous. That giant headboard! That glitterific vanity! That cute deer! So many whimsical touches to ooh and aah over. Image from Little Lovables.

This traditional bedroom has all of the makings of a homemade Valentine’s Day card. The wallpaper is the requisite lace doily, the pillows are the shiny stickers and the color combo of red and champagne is the palette of l’amore available in construction paper. Design by Shelly Riehl David.

I defy you to criticize the red and pink combo used in this room designed by Miles Redd. The mish-mash of art, the striking combo of modern and traditional furniture…if this was a Valentine’s Day card, it would be blank inside. Plenty of space for poetry and prose of your own making. This fabulous design has a little bit of something for everyone, making it perfect for your younger sister, your coworker or your best friend. From Apartment Therapy.

A Valentine’s Day tent for two that Scheherazade would approve of, yes? This is the answer to intricate pop-up cards. Up the wow-factor with this ode to the Persian queen that skews the commercial side of February 14th. BONUS: There’s a detailed how-to on creating this boho chic look. Don’t be surprised if you keep it up for one thousand and one nights. From Design Sponge.

Poet Robert Burns once wrote, “My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose.” Well, this boudoir is the passionate Valentine’s Day card. The ones that are velvety on the front, lacquer smooth inside and only appropriate for your heart’s desire. Red walls. Red dressing table. Red chair. Red jewelry. Red roses. (Is it warm in here?) If this ain’t Valentine’s Day, I don’t know what is. Design by Mary McDonald.

Awesome article. I love your valentine's day card comparisons!
That room is too cute! I love the pink deer. Thanks for the inspiration.
The third room is fantastic, isn't it? Miles Redd is a phenomenal designer. He started out studying film, but fell in love with set design and the rest is history. Check him out! http://www.milesredd.com/
