Love the look of a vessel sink in the bathroom? A top-mounted, sculptural sink gives any bathroom the designer treatment. To me, adding a piece like this one from Modernbathroom.com to a bathroom vanity is one of the easiest and most impactful ways to makeover a washroom.

We want to help transform one bathroom by giving away this glass vessel sink from Modernbathroom.com. Answer this week’s question by 12/11c Monday, February 21, to be entered.
This week’s question: What is more in need of a remodeling and why – your master bath, guest bathroom or kids’ bath?

Our sky blue fixtured bathroom is screaming for help! We recently moved into an 80 yr old ranch style home and the previous owners have left it sitting back in the 70s. We had the window within the tub area taken out and a vented glass block window installed. But that's where it ended. We have no shower enclosure walls–the new window is covered by a random shower curtain on a tension rod to protect that outside wall. We lifted up the very soiled carpeting and now have 4 layers of (probably asbestos ridden) linoleum over a not-so-promising sub floor. Toilet, sink and tub all bright sky blue. Original medical cabinet and vanity light fixtures.
My fiance' has a shattered shoulder injury (since 2009) and is unable to do any physical work himself. We recently pulled our families together into this house and made it a home for the two of us and our 4 (combined) children. So this bathroom gets lots of daily use. Did I mention the gorilla tape around the tub handle (no faucet) and only place shower water comes out from is the shower head?
Please help us make this ranch our palace…and not leave us home on the sky blue range.
Thanks ever so much for your consideration.
My guest bath and my master bath both really need it,but I plan to do the guest bath first.Hopefully some time this year! I think starting with the smaller bath is wise. Redoing the Master feels overwhelming right now! Maybe redoing the guest bath will give me confidence!
My bathroom is straight from the 50's and so am I, BUT, we aren't in the 50's anymore baby! Pick me please!
We just moved into this house in late 2009. Our master bath, kids bath and main guest bath are one in the same. It is very 80's in style with gold, mauve and soft green diamond shaped tiles! Yuck! It is also much too small for all of us, luckily there is room to knock down a couple walls and make it bigger and better!
My guest bath, for sure, because that is what people will see more. Kid's bath is empty and not used since they have all moved out. But really all 3 bathrooms need a major makeover because it has been 30 years since we built this house and have done no remodeling in those 30 years. Some friends of ours have this kind of sink in their guest bathroom and I envy it every time I go there.
Our Master Bath. We purchased this house 13 years ago, we were young (early 20's) and didnt' know what we might have wanted in a bathroom. 13 years later, our .75 bath gets cramped in the morning with 3 kids coming in and out trying to use my hair straightner or find their brush. I personally don't use the small cramped stand up shower in this bathroom. And with no exhust fan, you must open up the window that looks straight out into the development behind us (not allot of privacy!) We have plenty of space in our bedroom to make a "proper" master bath. My only wish is to have a bathtub that will allow the water to cover my entire body! (our other bath is shallow) A soaking tub to relax after a long work week and kid chauffeur. I appreciate HGTV for having this contest! Give hope to all of us whom "NEED" a little bit of PEACE of mind!
I would love to remodel our guest/kid bathroom! We purchased our house that included all the original 1979 design; including a salmon living room (walls and fluffy carpet), a pastel blue dining room, and a very interesting kitchen. We still have a lot of work to do, but our main living areas are almost complete.
The guest/kid bathroom has been painted, but the original fixtures stand out: a full glass mirror with aluminum base that serves as a rusty medicine cabinet, an old cabinet with traditional sink (fixture updated but no hot water), original toilet and a basic tub that stretches up the wall.
I would love to modernize the bathroom to feel like a spa! We love natural, organic design with an earthy, yet modern feel—the glass bowl would serve well resting on a slate mosaic topped cabinet with a modern water fountain that pours hot, warm and cold water. We would love to have storage for towels and toiletries; currently, we are seriously lacking.
Thanks for the opportunity to vent about my bathroom!
The bath in my home that is most in need of remodeling is my master bath. My home was built in the early 1960s and it is very small, containing only a stand up shower, toilet and small sink unit. I would really like to update this room and make it more usable and interesting.
Our master and hall bath together are probably 10 x 6 and the share a wall. The previous owners thought it was better to have two tiny bathrooms than one decent sized bathroom. We would like to take the wall down between them and make one nice sized bathroom accessible from the master and the hall.
Since we do NOT have more than one bathroom it has to be the main bath. It is a WRECK! ! We live in an old farmhouse and the bathroom is an addition, not even original to the house. There are two windows, which make ventilation good, but NO fan, and it's soooo cramped it's diffucult for two to be in there at once. Not that a makeover would fix this, but. . .
The previous owners put up "paint-like" paneling, even around the tub, and it is starting to flake-off, go figure, without a fan. . .
We DO have one feature we like, and that is the dresser for a vanity. When the small wall mounted sink was broken off the wall by a guest, we used this for the vanity, and a hand-me-down, faux apricot marble sink top. The glass vessel sink would look so awesome on it
We just finished pulling down the horrible tropical fish wallpaper in the guest/kids bath room and are getting ready to pull out the cabinets and sink. This sink would be perfect in the new bathroom I am envisioning. With the kids grown I'm looking for a more sophisticated look.
Guest bath! We are having our first baby in two months, and we live a few states away from our families. We know we're going to have a lot of visitors this spring, and the guest bath is still only roughed in! I adore this vessel sink, and it would be perfect for the room!
Thats a toughy!! We have 2 bathrooms, the kids' and ours. They both need to be "fixed" rather than re-done. We have to start with the kids' bathroom. The tub mostly. As I was washing it one day, I noticed that there is a crack in the tub. I told my hubby, and as he went to see what he could do to fix it, he noticed several tiney little cracks all over the bottom. Who knows how long they have been there while my kids have been using it. We have a garden tub in our bathroom, so the kids have been using that instead. The problem is, we are becoming foster parents in the next few months, and my idea was to turn my garden tub into a walk in closet for the foster children, but until we get the kids' bathroom fixed/updated, we have to wait to remove that tub, and update the rest of the bathroom.
My master bath. My husband and I have been married nearly 23 years years and have always put ourselves last when it comes to decorating the house. This time is no exception. We moved into this new home about a year and a half ago after losing nearly everything. It is a nice home, very clean but very boring. It was pure white everywhere and our master bath had carpet! We did rip out the carpet ourselves when a friend said he had some extra tile we could have for free. It obviously is not the tile I would have ever picked but it is better than carpet around a toilet LOL Anyways, the baseboards are still non existent as that was not in the budget so it looks weird and is pretty drafty/dusty at times. It is a nice size bathroom and could be amazing but as of now amazing is only in our dreams. Thanks for considering us for the makeover. If picked I can promise we will be the most grateful individuals to have ever won a contest
Also, it would be nice for something fabulous to happen after all the yuck we just went through.
Blessings,
Anna Kuttner
My master bathroom. The wallpaper is peeling, but it was glued directly to the drywall and the ceiling is vaulted. I still don't know how I'm going to get it off! The countertop is stained and the entire vanity is way too low – and I'm short! Don't even get me started on the horrible tub/shower.
I long for a spa-like bathroom that is my little oasis in the chaos of daily life.
For me if would have to be either one of the two bathrooms we have. We own a 1940's home and all fixtures in the bathroom including the sink is from that era as well. It would be nice to win this glass vessel sink and start some overdue updating.
Guest Bathroom? We call it the multipurpose bath for this family. I do home childcare so it gets used by the daycare parents so they can freshen up and get all the days germs off of them before greeting their children. The children have their own bathroom, but I prefer to have the parents in a more adult like atmosphere when first coming off work and then cleaning up. If their kids see them first, the hands do not get washed as they are filled with their happy children greeting them. Then to top it off, my husband is a Police Officer and he works nights so, if he comes home so as to not disturb me, he will also use that restroom so as to not awaken he or our family.
Both of my bathrooms need updating….I would place this in my downstairs bathroom , give it a touch of elegance to my seeashore motif.
So in a vessel sink aka nutshell I had to comment more… That is why it would be nice to change that multipurpose bath into someplace serene for my husband to use as well since he is in such a stressful job, I would like for my daycare parents to think of it as a place to decompress after a hard day of work and then greet their kids and I would like to escape there myself. I would decorate around the sink and make the bath spa like and serene, peaceful and a place to decompress. Thank you for your consideration and have a peaceful day. http://www.daycareresource.com/peaceofmindhomechildcare….
Kids bathroom. The master is nice and could use remodeling but the kids bathroom is very very plain
my guest bathroom has veen used for over 20 years by my grandkids i raised them all 5 and the old marble sink top with inclosed sick are in terrible need of replacement who ever thought of using white marble in the first place a glazer even said it wasn't worth it to sand down but now we are retired and on a limited income we can't afford to do it ourselves would love to see that beautiful sink in there instead of just closing the door and hoping noone needs to us come visiting and have to use it pick me please ihave never one anything but this would be a great first win god bless the judges to pick the most deserving person to write in
Our very old home was built with ONE bathroom! Yes, just *one*, for a four bedroom! So I'm not sure I can properly answer the question. We've roughed-in a toilet, sink and standup shower in the semi-finished basement for the hubby to use (poor guy). We are in the slow process of remodeling the ONE bathroom, because it does not have a proper shower (tub only). So far we've replaced the crumbling plumbing for the sink and tore out the plaster & lathe behind that wall, replaced with drywall and insulated. We bought a nice vanity, replaced the toilet, and I think this sink would certainly inspire us to keep going (we're doing it all ourselves, are we nuts?!).
I have THE worst bathroom in the world! please help!!
I only have 1 bathroom for 4 people. the bathroom is so small and so outdated and everything is white from the tile to the tub and countertop and sink
I have a 1.5Ba twin home. The house is 90+/- years old and only a little updating has been done to it during it's life. My main bath has subway tiles on the walls and hexagon tiles on the floor, which i think are all original. I love the old look but it really needs updating. I've been looking to update my bathroom for over a year now. my challange is it's size (6×8), the clear glass sink would not visually take up space and be a clean & simple look with a modern touch. My bathroom wasn't built for more then one person @ a time and has no storage, leaving the hall closet the only place to put towels & cleaning products. I love my old house, but it does need some modern touches!
My 2nd bathroom. We have lived in our extremely 70's style house (built in '72) for 13 years. Our daughter grew up and is now in college and she lived with the wallpaper being taken down, the removal of the mirror and medicine chest, etc. Now it just needs to be finished in Aqua, Chartreuse and Silver with the removal of the old vanity, re purposing an old mirror, etc. Essentially, our bathroom needs help!!
We started remodeling our master bath last summer. We installed a new vanity minus counter top and sinks, new toilet and some of the floor tile. We are at a stand still because we can't agree on counter top colors, paint choices and whether to enlarge the small shower stale a few more inches.
My guest and kids bathroom are one and the same, so that's the one I'd choose. It's very small and a sink like this would be a beautiful addition without taking any visual space up, a good thing since there isn't hardly any space!
We are in desperate need of a new master bath…..it has the original turquoise blue toilet, white tile that doesn't really look white anymore, only one sink and no vent fan. Looking to add a double vanity and the vessel sinks would look fantastic in there.
It would be our "master" bath that needs the work.
Our main bathroom would definatley take the cake in needing the renovation first. We have blue fixtures, sink, bath tub and toilet, a painted over tub surround kit that you can see blue flowers peeking through the paint and our lino is not attached to the floor it is curling up around the edges!!
AFTER 20+ YEARS IN MY HOME WE HAVE DONE EVERY ROOM OVER ,EXCEPT OUR MASTER BATH!! WE NEED IT TO FEEL ORGANIZED,VISUALY APPEALING, IT HAS GREAT POTENCIAL. !! I LOVE THIS SINK, IT WOULD BE SOMTHING I WOULD BUY. : }
We only have one full bath, and it is so in need of an update. My house was built in the 1950's, and the bathroom has the original ceramic tiles and tub. While I love the look of it, it isn't functional for our growing family. One sink for four people in the morning requires some major time management. While we would like to add a second bath, financially we need to settle with updating the current bath to have at least two sinks. We're contemplating putting in one counter with 2 vessel sinks due to space issues. We need help!
My kids Bathroom for sure !!! I have a 13 yr old dauaghter that has really destroyed it!! The walls are full of thumbtacks with all her jewerly hanging on it ,she colored her hair and got it all over the cabinets and walls luckily I got it off my yellow tile floors .The baseboards are ruined because of all the over flowing of baths and I'm not really sure if the toilet works well because its always getting stopped up ffrom all the "STUFF" that she thinks can go down it so….. My answer is my kids bathroom FOR SURE!!!
My half bath is okay, it just needs a coat of paint. Now the main bathroom thats another story. My house was built in 1912 and whoever lived here way before me really didn't know what they were doing. There was an old claw foot tub that they decided to enclose at one point, and they also put in a drop ceiling with a floresent light fixture. Thats not all, about two years after we moved in we noticed the ceiling in the kicthen was wet. Come to find out the there was a very large crack in the drian pipe for the tub, and that the drian it self was cracking also. Long story short we had to rip out the tub and replace it leaving still to this day unfinished walls, a drop ceiling thats is falling, a light fixture that does not work anymore and a floor that needs to be replaced because the tub is smaller. Oh yeah the toilet is acting up too. I wish I could post some pictures you would understand better.
My kids' bath needs remodeling the most. It's horrible. I'm trying to get it in shape and there is nothing that doesn't need help! Even the poor old walls are a mess. Whoever tried to remodel this place before I got here surely was trying to cover up instead of making it right!
I only have 1 bathroom in our house, and it ist in need of a COMPLETE MAKEOVER from top to bottom! our home is almost 100 years old. It has a tub that is functional, and the 24" vanity has seen it's better days. The toliet is ok, but is very low and hard to get down onto or up off of it! We have no vent in the bathroom other than the window that is beside the tub…..and it has seen its better days as well. The heat duct sits in the middle of the lineoleum floor……We have almost gotten the house paid off, but need to desperately do some updating………especially in the bathroom!!! Paint is peeling off the walls and ceiling…….the wallpaper that the previous owner put in there around the tub is peeling off and the board underneath it is full of water……….CALGON, TAKE ME AWAY!!!!
Definitely our main bathroom. In fact, we are starting to remodel it now. The last people to remodel it had no idea what they were doing. Plus the toilet, tub, and sink are all PINK! Terrible! Definitely in need of an overhaul.
My main bathroom, guest bathroom, and the one my two teenage sons use is the same bath. It was functional while they were young but was never fully decorated. In fact, it still is painted the original white paint from 1998. It's time to bring their bath out of the toddler stage and into something we can be proud for their friends and our guests to see.
My Master bathroom has a fiberglass shower that I hate, but also has a separate fiberglass tub- what a waste of space! If I could, I would tear them out and either put in a ceramic-tiled shower or a porcelain tub/shower combo (I rarely use the tub, but for re-sale…) Then I would turn the area where the tub was into extra closet space. The vanity has one giant mirror with one of those strip fixtures with the big globe bulbs above it…ugly. I would love to take the mirror down, replace it with a couple of framed mirrors, & replace the light fixture. A new countertop & sink would be great too!
Definitely the master bath, then we will work our way down from there!
I like our master bath because we remodeled it about four years ago and it looks great except I dropped a bottle in our sink and broke my sink! The guest bath I just repainted this week but it needs new tile on the floor and the original 70's tub/shower unit replaced – I think it's leaking behind it somewhere and we keep having to replace the shower hardware – apparently you get what you pay for 'cause inexpensive plumbing hardware doesn't last long…. Even using a vent fan we get occaisional surface mold spots on the walls. Help!
My master bath! I started a makeover some years back and it never got past a coat of paint. The back splash was put on temporarily and now the faucet leaks so the water is getting down the back of the cabinet and the back splash is swollen. the tap drips constantly and the faucet in the showers does not manage temperature changes so well so it is cold or hot unless you tap it perfectly! We also only have one sink in a 6ft counter space, I am a big DIY nut, but money is the only thing stopping me from restarting the project again. If I win one sink I could go get another one to match!
Our bathroom that needs a remodel is our only bathroom! So, it is the master, guest and kid's bath all in one- and it is tiny. We have what I refer to as a rotisserie tub–you have to keep flipping over in order to get both sides of yourself wet!! There is no vent in the room, nor a window (interior room) so we have sweating ceiling and walls, even in to the hallway because of the lack of ventilation. The floor tiles are the stick down type, which wouldn't be so bad if they weren't so scratched and dull- and the trim that was added to the room matches absolutely nothing- in that room or the whole house, for that matter! It is a terrible looking light 'wood' that is actually plastic- and it really stands out against the dark teal color on the walls. Lets not forget the 1963 sink cabinet base- painted chocolate brown, the 1990's formica counter top with odd angles cut off the end to accomodate the toilet, and the lovely medicine cabinet made of press wood that has broken one of its three doors off of its hinges….Need I say more? This sink would be the perfect jumping off point for a remodel! Thanks for the opportunity
Of the two bathrooms that we have, the upstairs main family bathroom needs the most updating. I need to do the plumbing (horrible home job with no proper piping), so I will be doing the sink/vanity at the same time. This sine seems to fit into our plans quite nicely as well.
We bought a fixer upper 4 years ago & redid the Master Bath, the girls bath & the guest bathroom. Since we have SLOWLY been redoing all the other rooms. We do EVERYTHING ourselves – great training for our children. Our oldest daughter graduated from college & works at Habitat for Humanity. Our middle daughters have been to Honduras & built houses with TORCH MISSIONS. They are both in college, one as a Fashion Major & one as a Interior Design Major. Through it all our son has worked with us waiting patiently for his room & bathroom to be done. His was in the worst shape before we even started & yet he has had to wait the longest & LIVE in that horrible area while the rest of us enjoy brushing our teeth in sparkling sinks. This spring we will gut his area & start sheetrocking so over the summer my son & his two middle sisters can design & finish his bathroom & bedroom by themselves. It's great to have children who enjoy working together. My son has waited a long time for his fresh space. He would LOVE this sink! I hope it's easy to clean because that is one of my rules – everyone has to clean their own bathroom!
Guest bathroom because that is the room that always gets used by people visiting your home!
While all my bathrooms need a makeover, I'd pick the master since it's where I spend my time. I want to create a sanctuary in there
I have only one, and it is 1950s green <shudder>
ALL of them! But, the Guest bathroom needs it the most. Dated everything. Would love this sink on a sleek granite top instead of the ugly molded acrylic one that's in there now!
