Daily Delight: New Country

The March issue of Country Living is redefining just what qualifies as “country” these days.

Toile, when paired with a punchy purple walls, is modern country along with eclectic “worldy” art collections, a comfy dining room and outdoor elements used indoors. Vintage fabrics are one of the defining characteristics of a country style, and this living room embraces them while still looking fresh.

  1. I love this new country look! I checked out Stray Dog Designs, the company owned by the couple whose home is featured, and have found my crustacean-loving husband's Christmas gift for this year:

It's perfect! The company has many beautiful objects and a social conscience, and is named for a stray dog they adopted in Mexico, so shopping from them is a no-brainer for me. And I think I recognize some of their light fixtures in the 2010 Green Home master bedroom!

  2. I have the same color paint in my guest bedroom. It is a very tranquil color.

  3. Everything in the living room looks perfect, but I am not so sure about the purple walls what other color would look good with this style?

    • I like the purple, a more faded lilac like Behr's old Spring Crocus, or a Wedgewood blue…
