Daily Delight: Hobbit House

Nestled into a Welsh hillside, this magical house seems to have materialized right out of a J. R. R. Tolkien novel.

Owner Simon Dale built this house along with his family and, “help from passers by and visiting friends.” He constructed it to have a low-environmental impact with natural materials. “Being your own…architect is a lot of fun and allows you to create and enjoy something which is part of yourself and the land.”

  3. I stumbled across these pictures on a different blog a few weeks ago and have been dreaming of this place ever since. I'm a wimp and klutz with tools, but surely I could build a hobbit hole?? Right!??

  4. I have a friend who grew up on a boat, so many neat stories. I would love to follow up with children living in this house 20 years from now. Our homes make a huge imprint on us. And this is magical.
