I adore incorporating vintage items into my otherwise modern home. The contrast and blend between the old and new makes for a comfortable, instantly welcoming space.
Just recently, I saw this clever table runner – made from vintage photographs – that achieves the same effect for a glamorous dinner party setting. I’ve often seen boxes of old photos at flea markets and wondered what to do with them. Tucking this idea away for the next time I spot some great pictures.

Oh my goodness, Lili. I have had this photo bookmarked for months. I'm planning a wedding and I gave this photo to my floral designer! The anemones in the goblets sold me.
Isn't it just stunning?
I love this- absolutely fabulous!!
Totally agree, Jasmine. Glad you enjoyed it.
I always feel sad when I see antique photos and postcards at flea markets, reflecting that some family has lost them or a family line has died out. I always buy a few to save them from dust and neglect. This has to be the most joyous reclaiming of old photos I've ever seen. They get to live on in this celebration of new beginnings and families merging. (Would love to see more design ideas using vintage pics!)
I always wonder the same thing, Anna. How did these end up here and who would love to know that I found them?
[...] Isn’t that cool?! It was on HGTV’s blog “Design Happens“. [...]
I love the look of vintage and the color scheme is beautiful.

I think it's a bad idea unless the photos are yours or have some meaning for you.
