Design Happens

Living in a rental apartment, my first thought about our wood floors is, “Don’t scratch them!” But if I owned those floors, I would love to try something like this:

I’ve often fantasized about using a whitewash or a dark black stain, but this stencil project featured on Design*Sponge is also an inspiring option. Would any of you venture into the (slightly) intimidating undertaking of restaining and stenciling your floors?
