The weather may still be saying winter in our area, but the calendar says spring. Our Color of the Month picks for April couldn’t reflect the mood more: violet and pink for redbuds and tulips, and the cool, neutral gray of a rainy sky.

Pink gets my vote (and not just because I ate a strawberry-iced cupcake for dessert). I unapologetically love its preppy, traditional, smiling face — I’m tickled it’s Pantone’s Color of the Year, making it more visible in stores and designs.

Staffer (and frequent blog contributor), Anna, put in the vote for violet, saying “It goes smashingly well with one of the hottest spring colors on the runways: tangerine.”

And gray got two votes, one from senior editor and Daily Design blogger, Lili, and the other from our color expert, Emily Morrow from Shaw Floors. Emily says, “The light gray seems to be everywhere…just got back from Domotex Shanghai and it’s just strong there just as it is here.”
