The weather may still be saying winter in our area, but the calendar says spring. Our Color of the Month picks for April couldn’t reflect the mood more: violet and pink for redbuds and tulips, and the cool, neutral gray of a rainy sky.

Pink gets my vote (and not just because I ate a strawberry-iced cupcake for dessert). I unapologetically love its preppy, traditional, smiling face — I’m tickled it’s Pantone’s Color of the Year, making it more visible in stores and designs.

Staffer (and frequent blog contributor), Anna, put in the vote for violet, saying “It goes smashingly well with one of the hottest spring colors on the runways: tangerine.”

And gray got two votes, one from senior editor and Daily Design blogger, Lili, and the other from our color expert, Emily Morrow from Shaw Floors. Emily says, “The light gray seems to be everywhere…just got back from Domotex Shanghai and it’s just strong there just as it is here.”

So…three big contenders. Help us pick by voting for your favorite.

We’ll close the polls Monday, April 4, 5pm EST, tally votes and get back with you with the winner on Tuesday. And of course, you can always cast a write-in vote for your fave in the comments!

Yellow (forsythia, tulips, daffodils) is a color I've always liked for April.

    • HGTV_Kelley says:

That's one of my favorites, too. I know it's spring when the forsythia blooms.

      • Guest says:

I agree that is a nice color, but yellow isn't really my "thing". I think a more powerful color should be for April like a vibrant red.

  3. Nance says:

Shades of Violet such as Hyacinths, Lilacs, and fresh Lavender = a peaceful and loving room accent.

  4. Brooke says:

    I loooooove the color Gray

  5. Jamie says:

    Gray is my fave

I do love that gray — and our blogger, Brian Patrick Flynn, talked nonstop about gray/greige at the HGTV Flower Show at Disney a couple of weeks ago. Let's pad the ballot for this one for May! :)
