Last week, we put our April Color of the Month to a vote. It looks like you loved our options, pink, violet and gray, as much as we did because the vote was close (pink and gray were only one point apart).
Which hue took home the honors? That beautiful, spring-y violet!
For those of you keeping score, this is a decidedly different color than November’s color, plum. As Nance noted in the comments on our “vote” post, violet runs the gamut of colors from hyacinth to lilac to fresh lavender. And in this case, we picked the violet of spring pansies, bright and vibrant, with just a tinge of fuchsia.
Even if, like me, you’re more likely to choose a neutral (like that cool gray) for walls and furniture, I’d accessorize fearlessly with this cheerful purple. Here are some great options:

1. Marimekko Ruusu Tablecloth, Crate&Barrel 2. Marimekko Samovaari Berry Sheet Set, Crate&Barrel 3. Mid-Century Lounge Chair, 1stDibs 4. Loungey Sofa, Desire to Inspire 5. Entryway by Shelly Riehl David, Designers' Portfolio
I know I kind of cheated on that corduroy chair—it’s not quite on topic, but it’s so close and it’s just too cool to leave out. Can you imagine how it would add oomph to a khaki, green or even pink color scheme?
Speaking of a single piece creating a room’s entire palette, check out this plush ottoman:

If you’re ready to commit to a Princely, purple palette, well, here’s some inspiration:

And I can’t leave out one of my favorite Domino rooms, ever:

Recreate these purple walls with Sherwin-Williams’ Fully Purple or Kimono Violet. And if you’ve already used violet in your decor, tell us about it! Are you sticking with pillows or are you going all the way?

My kitchen is a small area in a big beige room. I painted it purple and put antique plates and platters up. It looks great. Very vintage. I love the color.
I see a trend here…lots of color choices this year inviting a new warmth and vitality into our lives. Beiges and grays are good standard hues for the calm factor, but it is all about the great accent colors for inspiration.
Mitzi, what type of antiques plate and you displaying?
LOVE these colors!!!!!!! I have 2 grand daughter that share a room, 1 is pink and the other is purple. Gray is the tie-in color. Perfect!!!!!
