Fresh Faces: Dina Manzo and Thom Filicia

It’s a big week around here. A few days ago we announced that Dina Manzo is bringing her party-planning wizardry to HGTV. Her show is already in production (name TBD) and we’ll see if we can get some sneak preview photos of her work to show on Design Happens soon.

We’re also tickled to confirm this morning that Thom Filicia is joining the network. More info on that to come.

    • Dina Manzo was a Real Housewife of New Jersey and also A Platinum Wedding show. Saw a couple of events she did on Housewives that looked quite good.

    • Thom is awesome. I can't wait to see more of his work!

  2. Yay Thom! Love him!

  3. I'm home all day with my handicapable 25 year old daughter, who doesn't like hgtv. I would love to watch all your designers at night, but you put on the same real estate shows. What gives?

Lisa Jones on April 13, 2011 at 10:35 AM
  4. Been to Calico Corners – the fabrics are nice but RIDICULOUSLY expensive. If I'm going to pay that much for fabric – it needs to come with a seamstress to do the work for me.

  5. Can't wait to see what Dina shows us!!….~aloha*

  6. I hope this means less House Hunters….almost down to watching only Candace and Sarah Richardson on HGTV and I never used to watch any other channel….

Jane on April 13, 2011 at 1:21 PM
  7. Yeah! What's with all the House Hunters? Too much of a good thing is BORRR- RING! New Shows is GREAT!

Virginia on April 13, 2011 at 3:09 PM
  8. I love Deena I cannot wait to watch her show!!

  12. I love love love Sina she is an amazing woman, mother, and business woman!

Jes on May 28, 2011 at 6:01 PM
  13. I also love HGTV and agree…a bit overwhelming with all the House Hunters shows. Also agree, along with my friends, a new low for HGTV with Dina Manzo.

DeeDee in CT on June 7, 2011 at 7:27 PM
    • Wow…new low??? and you would be a very narrow-minded person that possibly just cant handle variety and beauty on HGTV…(along with your friends). She has inner and outer beauty with an awesome personality and great work ethic…aside from style! You may just be judging her by her past castmates?!? She's a classy lady and can't wait to see her new fresh ideas to along with a fresh face on HGTV.

Dina ROCKS!!!………..quit with the negativity and love love love and appreciate and love some more DEEDEE you need it in your life so it seems:)??

CONGRATULATIONS DINA, CANT WAIT TO CATCH YOUR SHOW!!!

  14. Glad that Dina and Thom are coming in with new programs. I thought HGTV had turned into the real estate channel and was missing decorating shows. Thank God for Colour Confidential and couldn't we get Find my Style back? Enough already with house hunters and property virgins. Sad to say, but enough with David Bromstadt as well. His original program was good, the rest is just too much for me.

Donna on June 7, 2011 at 9:37 PM
    • I agree. I also agree about David Bromstadt. I think his design is for a very limited audience.

Marianne on July 3, 2011 at 3:43 PM
  15. That is fantastic! Always loved Dina on Housewives, was sad that she left, but this is even better! Can't wait to see her work, and Thom's as well. And yeah, I agree with Donna about enough already on the house hunters shows, it's over board.

Claudia Durbin on June 9, 2011 at 11:45 AM
  16. I also love HGTV! And I too am bored with all the boring real estate shows! I can't wait for Dina and Thom's shows!!!!

    PDX-Sara on June 9, 2011 at 7:16 PM
  17. I am excited to see what Dina can bring in her new show. She is an extremely unique and artistic talent. Can't wait for it to start. I like the real estate shows but a definite balance is needed. Good job HGTV.

  18. Not sure I want to see a NJ Mob Housewife since of style on HGTV. Really?? Can' t we just have some more Sara, Monica, & Lisa.

AL Mom on June 13, 2011 at 2:05 AM
    • Dina had the good sense to drop out of the NJ housewives.Give her a break. None of the NJ Housewives are married to MOB people..wrong network genius.

Marianne on July 3, 2011 at 3:46 PM
      • New Low for HGTV, to bad they didn't check a show she did spending a huge amount of money on a tacky wedding. Won't be watching this show.

Joan on July 4, 2011 at 9:04 AM
    • What is it with all you morons like AL Mom. First of all no mob connections, secondly Mob Wives is in Staten Island (just in case LA Mom doesn't know where that is) it is in New York not Jersey. I really wish all these people would stop with New Jersey,

      Jersey Girl

Maria on July 11, 2011 at 11:22 PM
      • Get real, her father in law Albert "Tiny" Manzo was found in the trunk of his car in 1983 with four bullets in his head. Maybe it was a hunting accident.

CharlesD on July 21, 2011 at 7:14 PM
        • CharlesD even if what you are assuming is true, WTH does that have to do with Dina Manzo?????????

nitsia on July 21, 2011 at 8:11 PM
          • Don't need to assume anything, just Google it. The Daily News and the Bergen Record allege it was a mob hit for "Tiny" skimming the profits from their Staten Island gambling revenues. As for what this is relative to,he was her husband's father, does T.V. really need more Mafia related people representing N.J.?

CharlesD on July 22, 2011 at 3:27 PM
          • Why get caught up with something that happened almost 30 years ago, why cant it not be taken for what it is worth, a simple design show. Wow! Is she advocating mafia life and or ties? I think Not. How many other people on televison come from questionable past and or family members? Ok this is dumb. Enough said.

Nitsia on July 22, 2011 at 4:08 PM
  19. can't wait to see dina manzo on hgtv

lexmini on June 22, 2011 at 4:54 PM
  20. Really enjoy the design and renovation shows that HGTV brings….Income Property, Dear Genevieve, Color Splash, Sarah's House, Curb Appeal the Block, House Crashers. However, I agree with the prior posts, enough with the House Hunters and House Hunters International (there's theTravel Channel for that), Property Virgins and My First Place… sometimes is great, but all the time is really just too much!

leigh on June 25, 2011 at 6:18 PM
    • I like House Hunters, but back to back to back to back… I've found some other stations that aren't as good as HGTV, but has some renovation segments. Can we break it up guys? Kinda crazy all House Hunting and a few Antonio…Color Splash. SHOW IT ALL, I love HGTV (usually)

Sheila on June 27, 2011 at 12:08 PM
  21. I absolutely love Sara and Candace, and Dina is a wonderful designer so I can't wait to see something new on this channel. Not very interesting to watch people buy or rent a house or apartment. Getting a house ready to sell (like Lisa and Clive do) or staging for a move, give some tips that we can use whether we are selling or staying where we are. Unfortunately, all of those shows have been repeated over and over. David and Antonio have moved to the realm of "too way out there for most people", but their shows are interesting to watch. I still miss "Room to Room" They were great.

Lindy on June 27, 2011 at 3:35 PM
  22. I WISH DINA WOULD GO BACK TO RHW ON BRAVO TV….she could continue doin you alls show too! I just love the housewives…I am an addict and would love to see her back! She made it interesting!

    KLR~ on June 27, 2011 at 4:22 PM
  23. Yes..House Hunters must go. How many HH marathons do we have to see. Love love love Candace but they continue to show repeat after repeat. Looking forward to D Manzo's s show!

Lolly on June 29, 2011 at 9:45 AM
    • I agree, replace House Hunters with more of Candace Olsen. I am disappointed with the shows on HGTV now.

June on June 29, 2011 at 11:22 AM
  24. I have to agree that I LOVE HGTV, but why Dina Manzo. She and her sisters appear to be bullies and snobs to me, can't say the I will watch whatever she presents on HGTV. This is DEFINITELY A NEW LOW!!!

Roybrit on June 29, 2011 at 4:00 PM
    • New Low! How can she even be in the same class as Sara and the rest of great designers you have?Shame on Hgtv!!!!

Joan on July 4, 2011 at 9:07 AM
  25. multiply length by width of area to be covered. Then multiply by depth in ft (in your instance 1.5/12). You now have the amount in cubic ft. Divide this number by 27. This is your final cubic yards.

wendy on June 30, 2011 at 2:44 AM
  26. SOOOOO EXCITED about Dina's show! I can't wait!!! I LOVE HGTV! I also enjoy all the house hunters because that's where my husband and I are right now…don't change a thing!

Kaci on July 1, 2011 at 3:27 PM
  27. I don't get Secrets of a Stylist. Re-doing the room several times over before coming up with the final design is tedious and boring.

Marianne on July 3, 2011 at 3:54 PM
  28. PLEASE…. Do not put Dina in the same league as Sara and Candice. Pay attention!

Joan on July 4, 2011 at 9:12 AM
  29. LOVED that rubber tire cocktail table. Anyone know where to get it? Thought store name was Montagu, but didn't see on Google.

Patricia on July 12, 2011 at 2:06 AM
  30. Ick! Really, HGTV!? I have seen Dina's house on NJHW and it's very gaudy and dated! Didn't think much of her party schemes either! Why does she have a show on this network? Definitely not watching her show! Stay with the modern, forward thinking designers, etc.!

cpw on July 14, 2011 at 5:55 PM
    • could you possibly be any ruder? you havent even seen her show yet, wait until then and give your opinion. She got off the RHNJ remember? I cant wait to see it, thats my opinion

Cath on July 15, 2011 at 5:04 PM
  31. Dina Manzo is an idiot.

Dee on July 19, 2011 at 1:42 PM
  32. Dina is great & very classy , I will venture to say that the posts on here that show her in a negative light are probably the same person posting under different names. So sad! Please dont create drama where not need be any. At the very least give the show a chance before passing judgement. How pathetic & juvenile of some stating such ignorant posts. You all only wish you had an iota of her talent and blessing. BTW, I love HOUSE HUNTERS cant get enough of those shows. C'est La Vie! Live & Let Live People!

Nitsia on July 21, 2011 at 4:28 PM
  33. If her father in law was the owner of The Brownstone, he was found murdered in the trunk of his car, so what do you think?

CharlesD on July 21, 2011 at 7:06 PM
  34. No one who really has any taste or style would ever use the phrase "classy". That's right out of Guys and Dolls! Gum chewing optional

CharlesD on July 22, 2011 at 3:31 PM
    • Thanks for stating your "classy" opinion. So glad we all share different ones.

Nitsia on July 22, 2011 at 4:00 PM
  35. HOUSE HUNTERS IS THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!! YES, YOU NEED TO PUT SOME NEW SHOWS ON OF HOUSE HUNTERS BUT I CAN'T IMAGINE HGTV WITHOUT HOUSE HUNTERS. DO NOT STOP HOUSE HUNTERS. ALL OF THE REAL ESTATE SHOWS ARE VERY INTERESTING AND I LEARN ALOT OF WHAT TO DO AND WHAT NOT TO DO WHEN I START TO LOOK FOR MY NEW HOME.

Michele on August 11, 2011 at 9:22 PM
  36. Dina, you have the worst taste ever! You couldn't design an outhouse!!

syvonne hicks on September 8, 2011 at 6:34 PM
  37. Dina, I am a big fan of yours. I like Caroline, too. My problem is I have a daughter who is very sick and not able to give my grandaughter a birthday party. My granddaughter wants an American Girl birthday party. I am a retired elementary school teacher, so if would have to be economically within my means. Any ideas on how and what to do? Please give me suggestions. Thanks, Pearl

  38. I need Dina's Party in December 2011. My dad dies September 18th, 2011 from CANCER. Every Year since his death my siblings, children, gandchildren go to Waffle House on Father's Day and dad's birthday. Why Waqffle House when dad would come visit us here in GA from CA he would go out to coffee at the Waffle House. My dad has been going out to coffee all of my life. So we want to share dad's 80th birthday. We need Dina' to decorate for a 80th Birthday bash.

Cheri on October 2, 2011 at 6:46 PM
  40. I think they should revive Rate My Space Bedrooms with Dina as the new host. They should revamp the show and have the good guys against the bad guy. I bet Dina could pack a good punch on the bully lady with multiple aliases! Go Dina!

    MOW187 on October 11, 2011 at 11:59 PM
  41. seriously Dina's party decor are like whole bunch of junks scattered in nice houses.

LOVE House Hunters and House Hunters (International)!!!
