The official first day of summer is mere weeks away. Temperatures are heating up across the country. And the sun doesn’t set now until after dinner. It’s time to celebrate life outdoors. To get our Design Happens readers ready for the season of barbecue get-togethers, graduation parties and three-day holiday weekends, we’re giving away awesome outdoor furniture and decor from Frontgate every Friday in May.

Frontgate Copper Fire Pit

Since many parts of the nation are still experiencing chilly evening temps, this week’s giveaway is a copper fire pit. Copper is one of the absolute best conductors of heat, making this one of the best fire pits on the market. We want you to take one home! Just leave us a comment before 12/11c on Monday, May 9th to be entered into the random drawing.

This week’s question: What stylish additions help make your outdoor space party ready? Tiki torches, colorful outdoor pillows, hurricane lamps, fun outdoor dinnerware?

It is absolutely critical to have great seating, side tables for food and drink, plus a warm fire or outdoor heater. We live out in the mountains in AZ where the nights can be freezing. We have been eying these fire pits in the Frontgate catalog. We would be so thrilled to get this prize that we would jump out of our socks! Think about us desert mountain folks. We can have 78 degrees by day and 20 at night. Happy Mom's day to all of the wonderful moms out there!!!!!!

I live in Fl, so a huge patio umbrella is a necessity during the day. A fire pit would be perfect for the evenings.

I am in the process of obtaining some new seating for our patio. We have some old white plastic tables and chairs. I have wanted a fire pit for a very long time. I love the look of copper. I think the fire pit would help motivate me into picking some seating.

I have a very small patio area behind the cottage I live in that is part of a retirement center. I would love to win the fire pit — I would donate to the Youth Center I volunteer at and let them sell faffles tickets as a fund raiser. The money would help their finaces as they are doing some expanding.

  6. Terri says:

Wow!!! Love this firepit!! I just moved into a new place, but do not have any outdoor furniture, or anything beautiful like that!! This would be sweet!!

My Fiance and I are currently in the process of looking for a home and this fire pit would be a perfect addition!

We just had a neighborhood Spring party and the April weather was a bit fickle–hot one day, cold and windy the next. A fire pit would have been perfect to ward off the chilly evening weather!

I LOVE throwing outdoor parties! I always start with a theme. I spray paint "yard sale" or inexpensive clay pots with coordinating colors to match my theme. I then fill them with pansies, daisies or any flowers I find on sale and I strategically place them throughout my party area. I purchase remnant pieces of coordinating material and "tie" a pillow cover over my existing outdoor pillows. I use napkins and plates that add to the theme, and I decorate my styrofoam cupcake holder with coordinating stickers. I have even spray painted my wicker chairs a few times in matching colors.
For example for a Mexican theme: bold red, blue, yellow and orange pots; brightly colored pillow-covers; and red wicker chairs. I have also created my own banners that I string across the patio area by placing napkins (folder over) on kite string. The patterns on napkins are endless!

Wow, this is so cool or hot should I say. We moved to Georgia from the UK a year ago and have been renovating our home. The decking areas definitely need some tender loving care, with seating, dining table, accessories and of course plants and tubs. It's looking pretty good. The firepit would be a focal point to the rest of the yard that still needs developing. I am in love with the design of this copper firepit!

House hunting and this would be fabulous on the new patio

  12. Andrea says:

I think lots of plants to make the outdoor area feel like a great getaway from your daily stress.

A great center piece for all my quests to congregate around. This fireplace would work great!

would love to spend my summer nights, with the kids outside playing, and me relaxing by the fire pit.

I made a cheesy stone one in my back yard, it is not really nice to look at, How great would it be to have something as beautiful as this one in my back yard to look at and use. No one belives me but, all I ever watch on tv is HGTV or the news, I have no idea what else is on tv. I have learned so much off the shows and also used them in my house. Although I'm not a pro I think what I have done looks pretty cool. The best thing of it all is I enjoyed doing them. Keep inspireing me and I'll keep watching all of you. Keep up the good work. :) <3B)

I would love to win this for my mother's community garden, it would add some life to it. What will also make it pop is some colorful pillows. She works so hard to make it a wonderful place to plant, it would really be a nice gift to her and her fellow gardeners.

The best way to have a successful party outside is the same as inside. Have lots of great comfortable seating! using fun colorful cushions on your patio furniture and even in cozy corners is a way to dress up your deck, keep it in style (since you can switch them out easily), and make it a comfy hangout place for you and all your friends.

My husband and I are going to help our son and daughter in-law remodel a portion of their deck Memorial Weekend. My daughter in-law this weekend was talking about how much she would love to have a firepit for their deck. What a great way to accessorize their deck with this beautiful copper firepit.
What a great way to suprise my daughter in-law with this great gift.

  29. Rita says:

I recently added some new super cute seat cushions an pillows and a outdoor rug to turn mu car port into a patio. Also for a little romance a string of garden lights. And a coffee table I found. It looks far more inviting. Only problem is I'm in the south and the Mosquitos are tearing us up when we try to sit outside. My sisters said she got a firepit and put special repel logs and squat candle around and it help alot.

  30. Kara says:

Plenty of comfy chairs, a swing, an outdoor heater for cool nights and a fan for warm nights! A flat screen, stereo, and horseshoe pit for entertainment :)

  31. Donna Tonderum says:

We converted our high maintenance pond into a bubbling rock garden. Add in the solar lights and foliage around the garden makes our backyard a wonderful place to spend time.

  32. Nicole says:

Our old fire-box just fell apart. What a mess to clean up – would LOVE this replacement :-)
