Do you remember back in the 80s the popularity of basket parties? My mother would invite over a bunch of girlfriends, and they would purchase bread baskets that would line our kitchen walls. While they were well crafted, the style was pretty country kitsch. Now the basket trend has returned but in a new and sophisticated way that celebrates the beauty of global design and bold graphics.

A super awesome company is All Across Africa! They sell baskets crafted from Rwanda, Burundi, and Uganda and they have product designers who designs some other unique designs. Unlike a lot of other baskets sold in the US market, they have super colorful ones as well as the more neutral colors. I think that kind of sets them apart. http://www.allacrossafrica.org

What a rude thing to say, I have many of these baskets and try to find a use and purpose for them all, they were left to me by my parents, who are now both gone, and are in near perfect condition, along with the fond memories from my childhood they give me, they were and are well taken care of and are no where near ratty, I get tons of compliments on them and treasure them, maybe you are the one with the ratty items filling your house, as it certainly does not sound like a home, if you find yourself living with ratty items.
