All month long we’re celebrating outdoor entertaining and living with four giveaways from Frontgate. Last week, we looked to help you to heat up the night with a copper fire pit. Now we’re lighting up the night with this week’s giveaway — the Lucina Lantern — a sophisticated take on outdoor lighting. One large pillar candle will fit into this solid bronze lantern, but I think a bunch of mismatched candles would lend a stunning bohemian vibe to your next outdoor party.

You’ve got until 12/11c Monday, May 16th to leave us a comment. That’s all you have to do for a chance to win one of these gorgeous outdoor lanterns.
This week’s question: What’s special about the place you spend most of your time outdoors at your home? Is it your favorite fragrant potted plants that surround you on a sunny patio? The vintage glider you refinished that’s perfect for cool evenings spent chatting with neighbors on your front porch? Or the perfect napping hammock you and a loved one strategically placed between two shady trees?
Perfect your outdoor room with HGTV.com’s outdoor entertaining guide — filled with inspiration for preparing your patio, deck and porch for fun times spent with family and friends.

Every plant and shrub and tree and flower in my garden has its own story. That's what makes it special to me. Memories that grow and evolve every year, and never cease to surprise me with their beauty.

Trying to fix up our yard. If it can't be carried away by the neighbor's dog, it will be perfect in our eclectic arrangements. But do love the outdoors. And when it is a beautiful place to look at – everyone else loves it too.
Our backyard is a work in progress & these lanterns would be a great addition (not to mention I love Frontgate!). We are creating a great suburban oasis with lots of trees, plantings, a dry creek bed & places to play. Thank you HGTV for lots of inspiration! Keep up the good work!!
We spend evening outside while our 3 year old grandson plays. We just put a gazebo on our back deck and it makes for such an enjoyable time. These lanterns would be the final touch needed for the evenings!
I love sitting out by my pool in the early evening…..the jasmine I have growing over my waterfeature always smells wonderful then!!
I love sitting out on the covered swing. I can sit there for hours. I work from home one day a week and can usually be found with my computer and files at the swing (weather permitting, of course).
The back deck looks out over the forest. I love it when a warm breeze is blowing; the sound of the breeze in the trees is lyrical!
That's easy – sitting on my bench under the lilac bushes, next to my little pond and listening to the fountain gently splashing into the water. Ahhhhh. Stress and tension just melts away. Even the neighbors enjoy the peacefulness of the sound.
Love this time of year…enjoying my patio with favorite people..family and friends and also "me time" after a long day at work. Candles for calming ambience and a water feature for the relaxing sound are the perfect elements while enjoying all nature has to offer.
I HAVE 2 MENTALLY CHALLENGED CHILDREN . SO SINCE I HONESTLY DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO TRAVEL. I HAVE PUT A BUNCH OF FLOWERS IN SOME OLD RED CLAY POTS AND GO OUTSIDE ON MY SMALL BACK PATIO TO ENJOY A FEW MOMENTS OF QUIET TIME. THAT I DO ENJOY WITH A GOOD CUP OF COFFEE !
My outdoor living is awesome for me for two reasons my grandparents owned this house since 1939. My yard has trees and roses that my grandfather planted. I love sitting on the patio and thinking that when I work in my garden he is with me guiding me in my quest to keep the yard beautiful like he did. Oh what a feeling!!!
My favorite place is quiet, private, and cozy. THere is plenty of room to lounge and allow the family to play games outside. There is room to barbque and we have some beautiful pots and flowers to highlight the mountains we live in! Thanks for the cool giveaway HGTV!
This would great on my back patio, my neighbor from across the street is so jealous she calls my backyard and patio her island sanctuary. I have over 50 foliage plants that includes ferns, bromeliads, cannas, and way too many to mention. It is a chore to get them out in the spring but it increases my living space, tonight is smores night!
This Frontgate Outdoor Lantern is STUNNING! This would look gorgeous on our deck, lit up for the evenings…sitting outside enjoying the view behind our home. We have get-togethers frequently during the summer, as here in Spokane, Washington, our winters are long and cold…so we make up for lost time during the mild and beautiful months of May, June, July, August, September and some of October.!!! If I will this…it will definitely be put to good use! ♥
I love my patio because you can smell the beautiful lilacs as you sit and enjoy a meal with the family. This lantern would look perfect on our patio table.
I love the beautiful deck that my uncle built my family! The outdoor space we have seems to increase the square footage of our cozy 1100 sq foot house that we are quickly growing out of!
Just spend 4 hours planting flowers in hanging and floor pots on our upper deck. Petunias, pansies, portulacas, just to name a few. Places new citronella candles in the chandelier over the table. Cleaned off the outdoor furniture and shined the grill. Ready for hours of enjoyment throughout the summer – gliding on the glider; reading a book; watching the lightning bugs; and spying the deer meander through the yard and into the woods. Our deck is the outdoor extension of our home, and a place we share great times with family and friends.
Spending time outside is very important to me – it's a great way to get away from the stresses of life. Inside the house can be hectic with the tv, computer, and clutter, but outside is peaceful oasis. I love sitting in the sun and watching the birds. Having an outside lantern would encourage me to enjoy my outdoor space at that beautiful time of day as the sun goes down.
I just bought my first home ! and I am in the process of decorating my pool side and the backyard wish I must is fun but is exhausting …But I am enjoying every minute…

We love our lush patio … Covered in ferns and otber beautiful plants And lined everywhere with lanterns…it really is a retreat!
With an active 3 yo who loves to play outside, it is wonderful to be able to watch our garden grow we planted to eat…mmm tomatoes..cucumbers…
Love these lanterns, I wish I could afford them…..we are always outdoors entertaining. Would be a great gift..Thanx for caring for us HGTV
Our screened in porch and new patio furniture that makes our outdoor space comfortable while keeping away those pesky bugs!
Our special outdoor place is wonderful beacause it is surrounded with treasures we have collected from our family travels. We have seashells, plants, coconuts and so many other items that help us remember all the wonderful places we have been and enjoyed~
This would look gorgeous on our walkway as this year my husband & I are celebrating our 25th anniversary and renewing our vows out by the pool. I want as many candles & lanterns as possible as it will be an evening celebration
We love to sit on our front porch with our two beagles Bailey and Chloe. Our porch overlooks a flower garden and several lovely trees. Hanging baskets and wind chimes make this our favorite spot to enjoy coffee. A lovely lantern would make this spot magical!
My backyard is a tropical oasis, full of lush tropical plants, colourful perineals, pool, accent lighting in the gardens and comfy chairs. It is a place of serenity in my own backyard:)
I have a porch that wraps around the front and side of the house. I like to sit on the side porch next to the kitchen door. I have a large pot on the bannister that I fill with lots of flowers and grasses and hanging baskets and wicker furniture with comfy cushions. sometimes I read and sometimes I just sit for a break while cleaning or cooking. I get refreshed and will go back inside and tackle the next job.
I would love to put this lantern out by my patio, it would look sooo great out there. And we could sit and relax and watch the candles burn.
I am working on my new yard now to create special places, my plans include a freeform stone patio off the deck with a water feature and lots of huge pots overflowing with sun loving flowers for dining and lounging. A pergola near the back of the yard that will be covered with Wysteria and Clemantis for shady evenings enjoying the fragrance. I would love to have one or more of the Lanters to help create that perfect warn glow of friends and fun.
Our deck faces trees so it's always calm and relaxing, even when you can hear kids at the pool on the other side of the trees. Planters filled with beautifully colored flowers and candles make it my favorite place.
I like to take my morning coffee out to the front porch and sit in my rocking chair. The peacefulness is a wonderful way to start the day.
What I enjoy most during the spring, summer and fall is my backyard organic vegetable garden I love spending time planting, tending to it, and in the summer picking the vegetables me and my younger daughter spend a lot of time at our garden since we both love it so much. My daughter is only 6 but she is amazed and so happy to see how it all grows and she gets to pick her tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, lettuce and parsley. We have a small garden but for Fiona a big lesson on nature.
ummm..theres never enought pretty light?
I really enjoy my backyard garden with all of the Spring flowers in bloom. My 3-year-old son helped his daddy make bird houses this year, and they are now full of chirping babies.
HGTV thanks for all your help and ideas that I have been able to use through the years!
Our favorite part of taking in the outdoors is watching our kids play outside in the front yard and backyard. They write on the sidewalk with colorful chalk and it stamps our area as "kids live here". Our homemade water and sand table takes them into the evening and we have to lure them in – life is good!^_^
I can't believe how addicted I am to HGTV!
I enjoy cool evenings sitting on the bench that my grandfather handmade and carved a wonderful design in the back. The way the seat curves is comforatable and leaning on the wide rustic arms brings back memories of my childhood sitting in it on my moms patio on summers days watching her as she fed the horses.
We love being outside with our children, their friends and our dogs. It is all about the relaxtion the laughter, story telling and hanging out with the family.
The gazebo in our backyard between the pond and the shade garden…it's the perfect place to relax, meditate and even share a great GIY meal with family & friends. We could always use better lighting though!!!
I just love lounging in our adirondack chairs on our back deck… we're up high so it's like being in a tree house during the summer months!
Love, Love, Love the lantern's and I love HGTV!!!!!!
I was just thinking this morning how much I love the colors of my backyard as I watched a yellow finch and a red cardinal against the green pine trees. Add to that the purple rhodies that were blooming and it was picture perfect! Wouldn't that lantern look nice amidst all of those colors? I can see it…
The fireplace with smores sticks resting nearby and a lake just over your shoulder.
I have a patio garden that is as pretty to look at as it smells. But evening with candles burning give it a special look and feeling.
looking forward to some outdoor time on our new paver patio after a lo-o-o-ong midwestern winter. Now how do I fight the mosquitos? Help me HGTV?
My first husband passed away in 03 following a battle w/pancreatic cancer. He was 28 & I was 24. We both loved gardening & being outdoors. The spring before his diagnosis, he'd surprised me w/a small goldfish pond
He worked so hard digging the hole, then placing each stone around the pond just right. We surrounded it w/colorful, tropical lookin plantings. We enjoyed our "little piece of the tropics" for only 2 summers before he passed away in early '03. Fast forward 8 yrs… I am now re-married w/gorgeous twin boys. I've since moved from my previous home, but my new husband was kind enough to dig up that little goldfish pond & dig a new hole for it beside the back deck of our new home & help me re-create my "little piece of the tropics". Thus, my favorite outdoor spot is sitting on my back deck listening to the trickling water of my little goldfish pond, savoring the sweet aromas of the tropical plantings & watching my precious boys play in our backyard. It brings back such happy memories of times past while reminding me of all the blessings that fill my life today. …its like a symbol of both my past & my present while displaying my most cherished hobby…gardening
Just being outdoors makes my family and I happy.
We just moved into our home & have so much work to do- inside & outside
