All month long we’re celebrating outdoor entertaining and living with four giveaways from Frontgate. Last week, we looked to help you to heat up the night with a copper fire pit. Now we’re lighting up the night with this week’s giveaway — the Lucina Lantern — a sophisticated take on outdoor lighting. One large pillar candle will fit into this solid bronze lantern, but I think a bunch of mismatched candles would lend a stunning bohemian vibe to your next outdoor party.

Outdoor Lanterns

You’ve got until 12/11c Monday, May 16th to leave us a comment. That’s all you have to do for a chance to win one of these gorgeous outdoor lanterns.

This week’s question: What’s special about the place you spend most of your time outdoors at your home? Is it your favorite fragrant potted plants that surround you on a sunny patio? The vintage glider you refinished that’s perfect for cool evenings spent chatting with neighbors on your front porch? Or the perfect napping hammock you and a loved one strategically placed between two shady trees?

We've been working so hard on the indoors, making them an oasis, that we've neglected the outdoor area! Love the ideas that HGTV has!!!

  3. Kimmie says:

We moved into our home 10 years ago and i guess its just overwhelming. I see so many ideas that i love but i just don't know how to start and put it all together, i have a deck area that is small and comfortable with planters but that is where it has stopped. I have a front and side yard that need help as well as the back yard just a little intimadating. i know the side i would like to have butterfly garden and the backyard comfortable to entertain friends but still practicle for my 5 & 13 yr. olds to use.

I enjoy being able to sit under our outdoor tent and watching the kids play. This would go beautiful in our back yard.

  5. Missy says:

We are in the process of redoing our deck and can't wait to have an outdoor retreat to escape to!! This lantern would be a perfect addition:)

I enjoy setting out in my back yard, because it is so peaceful after a long day at school. We are in need of some work in the yard ,but just being able to set outside and rest is a blessing.

That lantern is the most beautiful outdoor lantern Ive ever laid my eyes upon. It would most deffinetly complement my outdoor room. I like my outdoor room because its welcoming and warm. With my barbacue and patio adorned with weaping williows in the near distance truly complents the smell of lilacs all around. I love my outdoor retreat!

  8. Forredheads says:

Perfect! This would make an absolutely perfect addition to our deck area. It is in it's infancy stages of becoming the most sought after sight in the neighborhood to be able to sit, relax, enjoy evenings with family and friends or just the 2 of us. What a gift this would be. Thanks so much, for helping us to attain our little piece of paradise!

  9. Sharon says:

My husband and I always enjoy sitting on our porch on nice evenings. We used to have a similar set of carriage candle lamps which gave it a nice atmosphere until someone stole them off our porch last summer- so sad!!!

  10. susitravl says:

I love my screened porch – no bugs, no sunburn, surrounded by beautiful pots with gorgeous flowers blooming in them. I can watch my dogs play outside and enjoy the fresh air in comfort.

My family is putting our house on the market and as much as I have always loved this house, showing it to realtors makes me realize even more so how great it is. We're on a corner lot on a dead end street, we have a huge deck with solar lights, combine that with cucumber lime water and dad grilling, I love summer time at our house. I can imagine how lovely those lanterns would look perched on the steps. :)

  12. Megan says:

Our back yard is surrounded by greenery. There's a marsh beyond that. We can't see any houses from back there. The front is just as nice, huge yard and a marsh view across the street.

  13. KimL says:

I would have to say it's my Secret Garden. I love spending time in this special spot in my backyard. It helps me to regroup and find a wonderful sense of peace and calmness. I am going to put in a fountain this year to help keep the peace abundant.

I love sitting on my back porch looking at the water and surrounded by my plants.

  19. Emily Savidge says:

We bought a house that needs A LOT of work. There are many pretty features, plants-wise, but no place to sit and hang out. The backyard is basically just SAND. We're going to have to work at it little-by-little, to get it to a cozy place where we can hang out with family and barbecue on warm NM nights. It may take us years, but every little bit helps. The lantern sounds like a beautiful place to start. At least it would be something to plan our dreams around!

  20. Amy PureHome says:

The absolutely gorgeous view I have off my back and side decks. It makes me so relaxed just to sit out there and stare off into the distance.

  21. heather says:

We're currently renting a furnished apartment before taking the "home buying plunge." Our building is on the Gulf of Mexico in Texas, so for now watching the sunrise and sunset is pretty captivating.

  22. Those would look fabulous on my balcony in my new condo! :)

  23. walkermom says:

I would love to have this on our patio that we poured ourselves and enjoy the beautiful evenings having our own wine.

  24. fern says:

I love being in my back yard when the lilacs are in bloom. The smell is absolutely amazing. Their lovely perfume wafts around my house all the way to the front where my neighbors comment on it.

    Thanks for the ideas!

  25. Erica Best says:

i spend most of my outdoor time at my park in my apt building

  26. AndThenSheSaid says:

I have learned to love our little rose garden lining the path to our front door. We inherited it when we bought the house but I found out I enjoy the upkeep as the roses smell devine and it's been great for meeting "birds" on our lot: one of our sprinklers seems to continuously leak a bit so the birds come down to drink from it without even knowing I'm trimming/cleaning right opposite them!

  27. Megan says:

First year that we have tulips and if I dare say, they are the bright spot of out outdoors living space. The pop of color does wonders!

  28. Ronda says:

Finished an outdoor kitchen / patio last fall and can't wait to use it this Summer. We put in a fireplace that we have used this past winter. It is fun to sit by the fire and watch the winter activities out on the frozen lake.

  32. karen kaiser says:

  33. karen says:

I watch HGTV all the time, It has given me hope that someday the unfinished projects around our home might some day get finished! The latern is a great adddition to an outdoors that does not supply electricity. It has been wonderful to sit out at night the last day or two since the rain finally stopped!

  36. karen snarr says:

I have overheads on my back porch. I hate them, but its better than stubbing a toe. These would be perfect for when my bunko club comes and those who smoke are not the only thing that lights up the space out on the bac k porch. I like these a lot.

  37. lindaryanc says:

This is so pretty and just what I need for my 60 foot walkway to my home!

  41. Annette Wilder says:

We planted a Willow tree between us and our neighbors that blocks our view of each others sliding glass doors, even though there is an acre between us. We didn't want to put up fences, so we have planted attractive trees and shrubs as a fence substitute. Anyway, the Willow between our houses is a great place to go out in the evenings and just relax underneath, Sometimes, you might even find a neighbor there to!

  42. Donna Y says:

Unfortunately, my backyard is a blank slate. I can only invision sitting at a rustic farmhouse table on top of crushed stone, looking at the reflection pool while drinking an iced tea, and listening to the audio book of Julia Child's time in France.

  50. Ticia says:

I have various lanterns I use inside for decoration in different rooms in addition to outside and am always looking for new unique styles. Great for multiple purposes and to highlight the seasons.
