It’s that time of year when gardens start overflowing with fruits so fast and furiously that you need a way to preserve them – and quick!

These beautiful canning jars from Weck aren’t your grandmother’s Ball jars, but they might be what your great-grandmother used to can jams. Johann Weck released his first design in 1900. He wanted to create a jar that preserve jar that made it easy to tell whether the contents were spoiled. This simple, streamlined jar design and lid closure did just that. These fancy jars just may be the push I need to finally learn how to make jam.

I love a beautiful canning jar, especially the old blue-glass Masons with zinc lids. The tomatoes are starting to show up in my new garden, and their accidental planting next to the lavender bush makes me wonder whether tomato-lavender jelly would be a hit or a miss. It'd be pretty in the jar, though.
Hmm. My instincts say miss. But they are using tomato jams on egg sandwiches and burgers here in NYC! Maybe some basil? Or hot peppers?
Love! It's apropos that you chose these for today's Daily Delight. I've been looking into canning to preserve this year's veggie harvest. These Weck jars would make gorgeous gifts even if they weren't filled with homemade tomato sauce or jam.
Definitely! I was looking for images that specifically had preserves but there are SO many out there with a myriad of beautiful contents.
