I love television just as much as the next HGTV fan, but that big hunk of electronics takes up a pretty prominent place in my living room.

If you’d like your TV to make less of a bold statement, here’s a trick from Unplggd for making it blend in: paint the wall around your set black. We’ve seen loads of great rooms with black paint over the past year or so, but this usage changes the color from a straight-up trend, to downright useful.

This is a good idea. Although, I often wonder how the heat from a fireplace, over time, could affect the TV. Another alternative is to place the TV in a frame on the wall. According to the design of your room, it could be streamlined, or more ornate in style. http://www.skylarkmanor.com
Good point about placing a tv over the fireplace! I wonder if it's a working one or just decorative?
We have our flat screen mounted over our fireplace. Our contractors assured us that it wouldn't be a problem. Then again, here in Arizona we rarely use the fireplace! Also, it's gas, not wood burning which could make a difference? http://www.thetomkatstudio.com/new-house-update-f…
My husbands 52" flat screen would be nice up over the fireplace. I'd love to it there, but my husband does not like the idea of it being that high. Our livingroom is huge and he doesn't like the idea of having it up that high. He says it would be uncomfortable on his head and neck. What do you all think? It's possible………..
