While perusing fresh lacinato kale, heirloom tomatoes, raw honey and summer squash at my local farmer’s market this weekend, I kept thinking, “This stuff is too good to be squished into a reused plastic bag from the supermarket.” I found myself longing for today’s Freebie Friday — this simple, stylish and highly functional Market & Fruit Picking Pack from Kaufmann Mercantile Store. The rattan pack’s cotton back straps and squish-free design are enough to make it a must-have for any farmer’s-market-frequenting locavore. Plus, last month style-maven Joy Cho from the Oh Joy! blog featured it as the ultimate picnic basket.

Kaufmann Mercantile Market Basket

All you have to do to be entered into the random drawing for this rustic chic market basket is leave us a comment before 12/11c Monday, July 11. So easy!

This basket is a work of art!! I love it and would be honored to have it to carry to a farmers market, an orchard or even just the grocery store. When not in use, it would be prominently displayed in my kitchen.

  2. Sherri says:

Yea …. what a great looking basket … would hold all my farmer's market goodies and then some!!

What a fantastic basket! So pretty, you could actually store produce in it and decorate your kitchen, too! I would love to tote this to the farmer's market! I'm also waiting for my own garden to produce — first time in about 10 years that we planted, and I've got great plans for fresh salads, grilled veggies, and zucchini bread! Love me my veggies!

We enjoy our summer garden by sharing everything with our neighbors. We'll load upa basket and ride our bicycles around town knocking on doors and sharing our produce. We make lots of sauces and salsas and zucchini bread every year also.

We love summer fruits……fresh fruit salad with oranges, apples, blueberries, pineapple, coconut and pecans. Then there's fresh canteloupe, watermelon and grapes. Another favorite is sweet corn on and off the cob. Broccoli and summer squash are right up there with corn. We go to the wonderful Sarasota Farmers Market.

We love hitting multiple local markets in the area- this basket would be WONDERFUL to help carry the load! As a blogger and a participant in NC 10 percent we try to make sure that at least 10 per cent of our food is sourced locally, so our farmer's markets are a major source for us

  12. Laura says:

I can see me walking around Lexington Market in Baltimore with this basket! Would love to win it!

We usually enjoy everything "fresh and raw", but this year we're going to try to make some pickles! We have an awesome Farmers Market in town on Friday nights. I would LOVE this basket to "show off" at the Farmers Market!!

I love fresh vegies & fruits and trying new recipes with them for my family! This is a GREAT basket to have for the farmer's market!

  17. I enjoy Summers harvest with FRESH veggies. Tomatoes are my favorite on all sandwiches and chopped up with fresh basil to make a bruschetta topping. My mother (Italian) turns all the leftover tomatoes into her wonderfu, homemade sauce that I can't resist and eat plain with a spoon at times. All of this sauce gets frozen and is used for various holidays and get-togethers throughout the year until Summer comes round again. As for the basket, I see it housing fresh towels and linens in the bathroom rather than holding Summer's bounty. This way it can be enjoyed much more.

We have a great farmers market in downtown
Rochester NY. But we also have smaller ones
in all the suburbs. I love this time of the year!
All the fruits an veggies are so fresh and the
    foods so yummy!

Hope it hasn't been given away yet it's Saturday the 9th of July. I also hope this is how we enter for a chance to win this basket. I could use this for going to the farmers market, the Chesapeake Bay, etc while pushing hubby's wheelchair. Well, may the best person win.

  20. Brenda Talley says:

I go to the farmer's market 2-3 times a week all summer and fall. In fact, going today. I wish I had a basket like this. The market vendors know me by sight and I have to get there quickly before all the red tomatoes and the new red potatoes are gone. I need this basket! I'd love to win it, but since I never win anything, can I purchase it somewhere? It's beautiful and I LOVE baskets!!!

  21. Laurel says:

Fresh and raw, baby. There is nothing better!

  22. Alice Ivy says:

That basket would not only be great for going to the farmer's market, it would also be beautiful to keep my knitting and crocheting projects when we travel.

  23. candace says:

I love using fresh strawberries and making strawberry pizza for dessert. The kids love it. My next trip to farmers market I will be buying raw honey, as I have heard it helps with allergies.

  25. Cindy says:

Delightful basket to take to the local farmers market and not have all my produce in those yucky plastic bags. Produce likes to breathe!!!

  26. Barbara says:

This basket would be great for when I go to the local farmer's market. I am a juicer and buy tons of veggies. I also get fresh locally grown blueberries that I freeze and put on my greek yogurt in the winter, as well as keep them out on the counter and grab a hand full when I go into the kitchen. Eat'em just like candy. The blueberry grower gives me fresh beet tops free! How awesome is that?

I love all the fresh fruit and veggies that summer produces. Also the fresh herbs too. The local farmers market is the place to shop. I do make a lot of fresh tomato sauce to use the year round and incorporate fresh veggies into everything I cook. There is always two huge salads in my fridge; one being a fruit salad. Of course, there is never enough strawberry shortcake to go around. Fresh fruit ice creams. Quiche full of veggies. BLTs. The possibilities are endless!

This beautiful basket reminds me of my Grandmother who is 85. I always remember her telling me stories of picking apples and peaches in IL when she was growing up for extra money. They used bushel baskets back then…she still loves to go shopping at the Farmers Market however, this basket is a nostialgic piece. I like the shape and design along w/the visatility this brings. I would enjoy using this basket to go shopping with my grandmother. Thank You!

  49. Kate says:

I bake lots of cobblers and pies. Yum!

  50. simplydab says:

We enjoy it fresh from the garden – either raw, or sauteed with some chicken or even added to omlettes.
