Can't wait!
I think they talk a big game and have nothing to show for it. They just took $14,000 from that Brooklyn couple and threw some mirrors on a wall making it look like any local frat house. Oh, and they wallpapered one wall. Big deal. And then they shoved some cheap couch against a wall, not the right scale, not the right color. I feel bad for the couple that got swindled.
Adore these folk! Wish the show were an hour long.
Oh My Gosh…did not like the show!!! Felt like I was watching the 1st episode of Design Star…with 2 mediocre designers. Sorry but this couple seems to be trying to be too hip, too chic, too bohemian. It just didn't work. Their final designs (for $40,000) were minimal and random. Hope the show improves.
I've watched HGTV since its inception. To me, Home by Novogratz was a shocking combination of poor taste and bad design. Shame on HGTV!
I totally agree. It does not work and I would rather the show be canceled than wait for an improvement. I will not watch it again. I will continue to enjoy the other decorating shows though such as Color Splash and Curb appeal.
Paula
and we think Antonio is bad
I watched this show last year when it was Nine By Design. It was fabulous. The Novogratz's are so much more capable than this show portrayed. They did awesome huge projects that were very innovative. Too bad they had to compromise their real talent to tone it down for HGTV.
I so agree with you, but happy to see them at all!
I could not agree more !! The show on Bravo was Awesome, inspiring and the design work was stellar. What a let down. Go back to Bravo…quick….run
What's up with HGTV, lately programing in general is lackluster but what you have done to Robert and Courtney Novogratz is edit out their essence. When they were on Bravo, Nine By Design with an hour long show and what appears to be less structure of the shows format they were great. The Novogratz are vogue, creative, incredible designers with a social conscience and shame on HGTV for not developing a format to capture and showcase their radical talent – huge missed opportunity HGTV. I love HGTV and remain loyal but get your act together, you are better than this, extend the time for the Novogratz show (they have your back) and then get out of their way – let them shine. Loyal HGTV Viewer, Cat Coley
Put them back on Bravo and let them do their thing. They are awesome!
Yes, they were awesome on Bravo, but whatever happened to them on HGTV is a crime!
I agree that the 1st episode wasn't a great representation of what the Novogratz can do. Some of their NYC lofts and hotel work is really impressive. The style of the show is much more HGTV (read: less subplot and more about the actual work) which is nice, but part of the Novo's charm is their personality/family/story. Will definitely continue to watch, but hoping for some better results!
SO EXCITED to see you on the air again! GREAT MOVE HGTV! Wish it was on daily!! hope it is a long season at least!! LOVE THESE TWO!
Nine by Design was so much better, they need their family included. This show is such a disappointment.
The inspiration was that they were themselves. How many designers would have clients come to their
Love the fact that they involve their children. They were inspiring. Did I love their design? No,
but loved them and their boldness, their willingness to try the quirky. Their client's love it.
They inspired me to stop tying so hard as a designer. Let it flow!!
Agree! They actually inspired me to stop trying, period!
It's really a great and exciting news. Their combination was something great. The presentation on
porcelain tile or Hardwood Floor was too informative as I can remember. Anyways, welcome Back.
Hideous! Won't be watching again. HGTV needs to break out of constant househunter reruns, but this is not the way to do it. How about some more truly creative talents along the lines of John Gidding and Candace Olson.
CANCEL IT!
Love these guys, so unique, love they do to unique stores. Love Him, he really grows on you and she just hangs in there. I was so sad Sat 11/5 when they were not on. they were different and having to be home alot, I have watched alot of HGtv and loved the Sat lineup, but they were my fave, please put them back on we can use to miss a muliple re run of the other stuff. Joey
this show is awesome this family is awesome their talent awesome give new format a chance hooray for hgtv for seeing a great thing and not letting it get by them good job!!!!! look forward for bigger and better novogratz!
Surfer Chick cottage was beautiful. I want to know where I can buy the red rug.
Like to see more. Robert and Cortney are talented and I'm enjoying seeing new rooms. Wish HGTV would give them an hour and the baking they have given Candice Olson. But this show is great the way it is—Thanks!
This is the worst show ever!
Everyone has their opinion, I think they have beautiful and creative solutions to everyday functions
I think it is inspirational to see the two together and doing what they love. It shows in the spaces they create together.Hope they can get away from NY & travel to the south…they could pick up some finds at flea markets, etc. on the way to decorate the houses. Now that would be challenging. A carpenter and a nanny might be involved..
Really bad show. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and watched the second show. Worse than show one. Zero talent!
I couldn't agree more with all of the negative comments and negative responses from HGTV
viewers – these two are terrible designers! The Surfer Chick Cottage was absolutely disgusting –
they wanted Shabby Chic and they got mis-guided garbage thrown randomly all over their place.
I gave it one more try on their basement remodel and their "bar" (that they kept talking about with the tiny
little girl) was pathetic! We need more shows from real designers like Candace Olson & Sarah Richardson.
I love these two. Have seen many of their designs everywhere. As for me, i am tired of the house hunting shows and tired of all the scripted shows. What the channel is more REAL designs for everyday living, SICK of the fantasy homes and the reproduction of how we should live!
Just started watching and what a disappointment. I was not impressed and will not be watching the rest of their season. Poor choice HGTV. : (
This was not HGTV's best effort.
I really don't know what to say (and I don't mean that in a good way)….I don't think the majority of the HGTV viewers will find their style appealing. Never watched them on Bravo, but it couldn't be any worse than the show I saw tonight. They seem like nice people, couple, and family, but not very realistic in their design. YUK!!!
I love this show, so creative! I am so tried of all the run of the mill design. BORING! Let's think outside the box a little.
I'm saying NO to the Novogratz! I do not like this show at all. The design is more like carnival design gone bad. The wallpaper in one episode was so poorly executed. I felt bad for the homeowner. The first designer on current "Design Star" show was kicked off for poor execution of her wallpaper project. Please do the same for this show and cancel it. Disappointed.
I so agree! I think they are horrible!
I have not yet seen them on HGTV. However, their show on Bravo
was stupendous!!!!!! They are so "out of the box" with design. New, refreshing,
whimsical, fun, etc. etc. Very likeable personalities and great kids. If this new
show is so bad – go back to the Bravo format. I love this family.
The show is fine. But I would never hire them just from their appearance. Courtney's hair always looks stringy and like it needs to be washed. Surely they have someone who can style her hair. If not, send her over to 'What not to Wear". They have great people for hair and makeup.
What a disgustin show. Who are they designing for 4 year olds. I won't be watching again
I am so glad to find you all! I googled, "home by novogratz bad" and found you. I was SO disappointed. I tried both shows, too. Their designs are straight up cheesy. I cannot BELIEVE that they have their own show. Cancel it, please! I'll take Candice, Sarah and the staging shows with Sabrina and Tanya.
Tacky, tacky, tacky would be my description of the so called designs these two come up with. They may as well shop at garage sales and 2nd hand stores…will not be watching this team. Sarah and Candice both do beautiful, well thought out planning….they don't just throw whatever at a room and literally make it stick (like tape on beds!!!)
I was actually surprised when I watched this show for the first time, I thought it was a joke. They are simply terrible !
I think the Coen loft the Novogratz did was one of the most refreshing things I have seen in a long time.
when have they been on HGTV before?
I agree with thinking outside the box! As any good artist would say, without pushing the envelope you are not GROWING! Hopefully they will take the critiques with a grain of salt and think for themselves. I might add that there are so many ways to decorate the way you want to express yourself. Think of http://www.fromyourhearttoyourhome.com . As the Decorative Artist that developed Tatouage Designs and Bella Karma Designs, and I might add, sold successfully to THOUSANDS of happy customers on HSN and QVC for 10 yrs, I see a most amazing array of technilogical printing advancements that allow customers to create effortless and COST EFFECTIVE looks for a fraction of what you would pay a professional. And you don't have to commit forever since they are now removable! So take what you can from all of these great shows and then decide what YOU WANT YOUR HOME TO SAY ABOUT YOU! And more importantly HOW you want it to make you feel!!!
So wish I lived closer to them so that they could do a room for me! They are brilliant! And yes, please make the show longer!
I am in SHOCK every time I see one of the Novogratz's "designs!" I always try to find the good in things, but I cannot for the life of me find anything worth complimenting about their work in the few episodes I've watched. It seems that they pride themselves on "not following any rules" – and it shows! It's all a hodge podge of styles, colors, patterns. My 3-year-old could do a better job of decorating than these folks. Several have commented about their unique story of a large family, etc. That's all well and good, but that does NOT make them any good at design, nor should it warrant them a show or the hype they're getting on HGTV. And, to have them judge on Design Star?? They don't seem to know the first thing about design; they're not following any "rules", nor do they have good taste. It seems that they look for the most outrageous piece of furniture or knick-knack and throw it in with some crazy color rug and finish it off with hideous artwork, and call it a day. Man, did they pull the wool over someone's eyes to get this gig!
Terrible! These people can't be professional Designers. They give the trade a horrible immage. They should put up a disclaimer.
Please get rid of all those househunting shows. Every night all niught. Give me the Novogratz any day.
I totally agree. House Hunters and House Hunters International are like watching dry paint. As for the Novograztes, their designs are not for everyone but I do like that they take risks. Most people would have to take those risks in small doses; however, someone like David Bromstad, who also takes risks, shows us how to do that so we too can do what he does, within our comfort zones.
I really like Room Crashers with Todd Allen but I wonder why he has to always hoist petite women up on his shoulder. He seems like a big, entertaining, kid who can design. He can design my space any time he wants . Think of that as a metaphor… What happened to Todd's wedding ring? Did they make him take it off for TV?
Love Love the House Hunter show especially the international ones keep them coming its great to see how people live out side of the US
No to Novograztes, yes to more great designers like Candice, Sarah, David B., etc.
LOVE the Novogratz designs and the show — ever since Bravo. I'd like to see them on more! Their fresh ideas help fuel creativity and make decorating less intimidating b/c they're not formulaic.
Dont really feel like the Novogratz designs are very inviting/exciting/what most people would like in their homes. Their "creativity", if you will, seems like just outrageous colors/patterns together with eclectic furnishings that don't click…eclectic should be a very pleasant mix or blending of things old & new. Colors should NOT fight with patterns in the same room! Looks to me like the consensus is, Dump their show!
I, am a music teacher, and I was appalled by the "Too Cool for School" episode. I can't believe they just went in there and changed everything around without taking into consideration the needs and wants of the music teacher, and more importantly the students!!! I appreciate how they thought they were doing good for the school by getting all that electronic music equipment, but it was painfully obvious that they have no clue what is required to be a music teacher. Especially at the elementary level. They kept going on about how they provided the tools necessary to inspire those students to make music. The school already had an amazing selection of musical instruments (xylophones, tubanos, small hand held percussion, etc) that were AGE APPROPRIATE and inspirational to the students of that school.
WHAT WERE THEY THINKING blocking the chalk board with the drum set. We are educators. We don't just bring the students into class and bang around on instruments the whole 30 minutes we see them a week. We actually teach about how music works while providing an enriching musical experience that is inspired by the children’s own imagination. A music teacher generally sees 20-25 students in a class at a time, maybe more. The teacher is not going to have time to teach each of those children how to use that drum set or that key board, or even all those guitars to the point where the child feels successful. And putting all those beautiful tubanos above the book shelves was insane. Did they even know they that they put a whole bunch of usable drums in a place that cannot be reached easily by the students or teacher?!?
And that "art" area. I'm all for using visual art and sculpture as inspiration for creating music, but don't they have a seperate art class/teacher that the music teacher could collaborate with? It just takes up more of the wonderful floor space that could be used for movement. They could have expanded the instrumentarium. They could have put more color on the walls. They could have used musical symbols in the fabrics and on the walls, and hanging from the ceiling. They could have found inspirational quotes about music. They could have brought in risers for the students to sit/perform on. They could have put up mirrors on one of the walls for movement activities. They could have purchased carts for all those xylophones to make them easier to move around. Good designers use their creative expertise to take a space and make it functional and beautiful, and these two did not accomplish that in any way.
BTW A piano is a musical instrument, not a vase for flowers!
Suck those cheeks in!! Courtney is just OK, but Robert is creepy!!
Love Todd's Room Crasher but miss Myles of Style–have to watch her on the website. Would love to see her back on prime time.
Send these two back to Bravo…. they are not worthy of HGTV show. They appear to unkempt, unprofessional and kind of creepy. Their idea of "designing"…. junk store finds and letters on the wall… please just send them packing!!!
i am so glad that they are back on the air, but I really miss the show being an hour, and I miss having the kids being an integral part, along with the Novogratz life!! I am so disappointed!!! Their old show was great TV viewing!!!!
HGTV, have you ever heard of the story, "The Emperor's New Clothes"? The lesson of that story is what the Novogratz's are all about: stupid, ridiculous ideas that are truly laughable when the room they remodel is finished. Their "Eclectic" can just go so far before it falls apart, and HGTV should be shamed for putting this couple's idiotic show on the air.
I just enjoy Cortney and Bob Novogratz's shows. I'm happy that they are bcak again. Now, we will be able to learn something new about home improvement and many other useful tips.
The show needs to be 1 hour long!!! They're fun, crazy and very creative. I miss. Seeing more of them with their kids! Luv'them!!!
