Bold color is back in a big way. We dubbed lime July’s color of the month, and we’ve seen an influx of brightly colored furniture and paint palettes saturating the market. One of our favorite finds this season is Dovecote Decor’s spunky Wangright Lacquer Cocktail Tables. These little gems are perfect side tables or look ultra-chic grouped together to form a coffee table. And while they are the essence of uptown style, a chance flea market find inspired the designer behind them.

Docecote Decor Side Tables

We want one Design Happens reader to take home a cocktail table in their choice of color (blue, yellow, orange, white or LIME!). To enter for a chance to win, just leave us a comment in the field below before 12/11c Monday, July 18.

This week’s question: Are you into repurposing flea market, yard sale and thrifting finds? Or are you all about the instant satisfaction of store bought beauties?

I live in a college town and students leave all kinds of treasures on the curb when they leave town. I just found a cool old low-backed drafting stool, which I plan to refurbish (maybe paint) and use as a plant stand. I love finds with character and try to imagine their story.

we thrift frames all the time to use in our mixed media artwork. We'll repaint them and give them a whole new life! http://thingswithwingsartjournal.blogspot.com

I live in an older home with my mom to help out and since she is into not getting rid of anything I find that if I repurpose and refinish some of the objects around the house she is comfortable with that and I get some awesome looking pieces at no monetary cost to me.

  4. Kipster says:

Repurposing is nice for some, but for me, I like the idea of something old really being something new (and even if the something is borrowed from Design Happens, I wouldn't mind it if the something is Blue!).

  5. Kyle says:

I LOVE repurposing old items, especially furniture!

  6. Jane says:

    Great looking tables!

  7. Jessybwilliams says:

I love repurposing items from my local antique stores!!!

  8. Sandi Pressley says:

I absolutely love repurposing (or as I call it "upcycling") discarded or thrift store furniture….it's easy in the budget, gives me a creative outlet and keeps good usable furniture out of landfills. Even if I won the lottery I could still picture myself doing this. That said, I would still LOVE to win one of those gorgeous tables!

  9. These are gorgeous and just my style! If had to choose I'd pick yellow.

I am always going to flea markets and consignement shops. I have one bedroom with every piece but the matress from flea markets. Painted it all a creamy white and it looks FANTASTIC! Mush rather have a well-made, solid wood piece than one of those veneered fiberboard things fromt the furniture store!

  11. Meg says:

At this point in time i haven't done much repurposing, but when i have space/time/$ i want to!

  12. Michelle says:

Love the concept of repurposing! Love these tables!

A few years ago I found a beautiful 40's dresser at Salvation Army store but it had a hideous black paint with a yellowing varnish on it. I stripped it and restained it a nice espresso stain and it was marvelous! I love to keep an eye out for great trash to treasure finds. These beautiful little tables are great, a lime green one would look lovely in my living room.

  14. Janelle says:

I want one! I recently bought my friends kitchen table set for 50 bucks and want to stain it turquoise.

  15. MsKisa says:

I like both repurposing and finding store bought steals. These tables are fantastic! Love the style.

  16. Amy says:

I love repurposing! Character over new items any day here! I just redid both of my kids rooms and landed a really cool loft bed for my son made out of 2×4's… You wouldn't find that on a furniture showroom floor around here!

  17. Kat Moore says:

Pick me! Pick me! Those tables are super cute!

  18. rrcpckc says:

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the tables…they are sooooooo cute!!! I am slowly redecorating my home from red accents to aqua/blue accents….this would be perfect!!!!!! Or the lime green for my daughter's bedroom!!! She's turning 13 on the 31st……great gift for her room!!!!

  19. Briana says:

I really would like to get into repurposing old or used furniture because it would be a great project, and give the old piece new life to share with someone new! I am still in the process of decorating our in-progress flip of our house. One of these fancy little tables would be awesome for our basement when it finally is finished! Great find!

LOVE those tables and would love to win one!

I love the concept of repurposing, and can generate a ton of ideas for garage sale finds in a matter of minutes…but actually following through and completing the makeover myself is where the wheels fall off the bus. Now I stick to things that are free or cheap enough to still be considered a "deal" after paying someone else to rehab it for me!

  21. linda dozier says:

Garage sales are the bast. You can find lots of different treasures that can be re-purposed. Add a little paint, stain or shelf and voila new item for your home.

  22. @CherryRed23 says:

Would love that table in LIME!!!! Goes with my black, white & lime decor!!! Love your channel!!!

    • @CherryRed23 says:

Oops sorry for the double comment, my original one missed my whole sentence of that I love to repurpose furniture. I just did a plain wood cube into a decorative chair for extra sitting in my living room.

  23. CathieS11 says:

Blue is the color for me!

  24. maryellen says:

I love repurposing items but I usually buy them already done! This table is great!

  25. CathieS11 says:

Re-purposing is the only way to go. I LOVE finding a new life for a discarded or under appreciated item. The best part is impressing family and friends with my latest project :)

  26. Trisha says:

Love love love! I could totally see this in my house!

  27. jennifer n says:

when i was younger and just starting to earn money, i loved the instant thrill of buying new. now i am more into seeing how creative i can be with the used.

  28. Sharon says:

I'm really not into flea markets and garage sales. I like new, store bought items.

  29. tanya broadbent says:

Since I've been making do and "re-purposing" all my life (never knew I was trendy) I cannot break the habit of hefting a curbside item home to clean up and use. Sure I've developed some mad skills and saved a lot of money but I have to admit when I am able to afford something ALREADY FINISHED In my dreams I buy it but in reality I try to find something close to make a twin. The lime green table is aDORable!

  30. Charlene Metz says:

I love mixing flea market finds with new furnishings. I am a bit eclectic in my taste so it works!

  31. Thomas S. says:

Time is always an issue, I have a few items that were repurposed but usually I need to get it from a store.

  32. lynn clark says:

I have refinished furniture in the past and am about to stain some dining chairs to match the new dining table I bought so new or refinished is fine with me! Love the side tables!

  33. Fran Marshall says:

Wow – love these tables – one would make a great birthday present to me – tomorrow July 18 – I love HGTV. It is dvr'd more than any other station on my satellite!

  34. Agp says:

I trend towards both! I have eclectic taste and have/do what looks good!
    Love this table!

  35. Gina Smith says:

My husband does all the remodeling/refurbishing in our house. I'm the cleaner and drink bringer/re-filler. Like everyone else, I would love a table because we just remodeled our spare bedroom – child moved out :) in any color (green, yellow, or white).

  36. Audrey McKenzie says:

I love flea market/garage sale finds to decorate my apartment in a beach theme! I love blue and white with accents of multi-colored stripes. This cocktail table is adorable, and of course, the blue one is my favorite! I am having company over labor day, and this sweet table would be perfect on my patio!

  37. Ed S says:

Neat tables! I love the orange.

  38. Wonderfully Domestic says:

I love to repurpose! I recently posted a Craigslist bench re-do on my blog…it was by FAR my favorite project in a long time!

These tables are fantastic. It would be so difficult to pick just one color!

  39. Ruth says:

Love to redo old furniture. Love all the shows on HGTV.

  40. Dawn says:

I have the vision but lack the skills to get it done. If I really really find a great piece, I talk my father into doing the work to bring it to life:) Thanks Dad.

  41. Christina Foglia says:

I shop almost exclusively at thrift stores because it's budget-friendly and refurbishing older pieces can bring life to a really unique piece and add charm to any room. The process of sanding, un-bolting, and tearing things down just to put it all back together in a shiny new way is both fun and satisfying!

  42. Sharon McMahon says:

I am all about re-purposing – and the lime table fits my living room decor perfectly! I would, however, accept any color because I love the details of this table!! I watch HGTV most of every day. According to Emily my design style is "Cottage-Chic." This design style makes re-purposing a central focus. Besides, my current side table is a storage bin with a tablecloth over it :-D so I know it would look AWEsome!!

  43. RhodiBoat says:

ooo……I love both! It's so satisfying to personalize and repurpose something old, but then there's also that rush you get when you find that perfect piece in the store! Love HGTV!

  44. Teri Houser says:

I'm decorating in an asian theme. My accent color is orange & these tables design on top looks asian to me & would look awesome & brighten my room up tremendously..needs all the help it can get…would love an orange one & love HGTV.

  45. Terri says:

I love to repurpose and buy new. It just depends on the item that catches my eye! Love the bright, cheerful colors of these tables.

  46. Jan W. says:

I like a mixture of repurposing and new. I like wabi sabi, eclectic, interesting rooms that are exciting and imperfect.

  47. Jamie says:

I'd LOVE to be able to start hitting flea markets and refurbing things, but just don't have the skills (or any nearby flea markets). Hope to win an awesome table or 3 or 4!

  48. YAYA says:

Repurposing flea market, yard sale and thrifting finds this is my passion! I love to do these things! The hunt is the most fun-to take something ulgy and make it new again. I do also like to find things that I don't have to do anything to. I LOVE bright colors-those are the colors our house is decorating with and winning one of these tables in any colors would go great in out house

  49. lyd84 says:

I love to mix & match a little new & then to find a perfect piece to set it all off from one of my favorite flea markets! It's amazing how old/new really compliments each other :)

  50. Leslie says:

repurposing and refinishing old things is something i love to do! hoping i win one of these tables :)
