I’ll admit it: I suffer terribly because I’ve inherited The Matching Gene. In this case, it was passed down from my mother. (One of my favorite jokes to play on her is to tell her the black nylons she put on to coordinate with the rest of her outfit are actually a dark navy blue.) There’s a feeling of safety in matching, but one of the things that kept coming up in the design sessions I attended at Las Vegas Market is that the mix & match look is still where it’s at. Putting antique pieces in a contemporary room, or vice versa, adds interest and keeps things from looking too much like a catalog. That’s what I love about this Mix & Match Cutlery Set by Present Time.
The work of assembling and curating a cute cutlery collection is done for you. All you have to do is set the table and sit back, looking like the fearless style whiz who thought to pair a bamboo-handled fork with a polka-dot print knife.
