Nothing brings a room together like a chandelier. The most sleepy of spaces instantly goes from lackluster to luxe with the addition of one of these quintessential light fixtures. The HGTV Design Happens crew wants to give your living room or dining room (heck – any room) a mini-makeover with designer chandeliers from Brooklyn-based lighting company Crystorama. Their classic designs hang from the ceilings of the US Supreme Court building and Constitution Hall.

Three winners will get to choose a design from the feminine Fiore Collection, modern Solaris Collection or transitional Hampton Collection, pictured above. To enter for a chance to win, just leave us a comment before 12/11c Monday, August 8.
This week’s question: What’s your best tip for giving a room a quick pick-me-up? A vase filled with fresh flowers? An accent wall in an “it” color? A bold piece of art? Or is it all about the lighting?

For me, open the windows let the fresh air in. Change furniture around, even if its just one piece, or a corner. It makes a big difference.
If it is quick, like company is coming in a couple hours, then I like to spray the lights and powder the carpet with room freshener/deodorizers in addition to decluttering. If quick is a couple days, I like to change the linens: curtains, pillowcases, table cloths, etc. My husband's quick pickup is to rearrange the furniture on me!
fresh coat of paint! we did this weekend and created an amazing goldenrod accent wall in the living room in under 2 hrs and it feels like we're in a completely different space. i also like to hang an empty wood frame on the wall to create an interesting piece.
Switching up throw pillows is always a night & day difference & Fresh flowers are delightful, however air plants and succulents add just as much color and freshness to a room and are low maintenance and last much longer!
Clearing the clutter changes a room entirely. Makes it an inviting pleasure to be in vs wanting to run in the opposite direction. Throw the nick nacks in a box. And see if you miss them a week later. You won't.
I change my accent color every season or at the very least twice a year. This perks up any room right away, plus keeps me from feeling stuck-in-a-rut. The color depends on the season and my mood or whim at the time. I *LOVE* changing the color for a quick pick-me-up!!!
For me it's all about the scent! I love candles that scent the room. Especially citrus scented ones for the summer.
If the room has been cleaned….then add fresh flowers….
Declutter and re-arrange can give any old space a new look without costing a cent
Adding some new throw pillows makes a difference!
Wow, those chandeliers are gorgeous! I can think of the perfect spot for each one of them in home, and I'm pretty sure the first one was sent down from the design gods especially for our master bedroom. haha! The best way to quickly transform a room is by a good cleaning and a RUG. Rugs are low budget and huge impact item! Nothing beats a big plush soft rug under your feet every morning, or a beautiful woven rug for your outdoor space.
a fresh coat of paint.
Repurposing things really gives a room a new look! Just yesterday I took some green moss and filled two flipped over antique glass funnels. I put them on my entryway table as a little accent and it just gave the room a new accent piece. I try to change something little every week in my house so I never get bored with my designs!
I love to change out the plants in the room. A new plant in a new pot can really make a bright change.
Pillows! I love eclectic pillows – totally changes the look of any room.
Colorful table runners with different colored candles can change the look, feel, and smell of a room.
To give your room a pick me up I say it's all about lighting. You could have a gorgeously designed room but the wrong lighting can throw off the aesthetics. if you've blocked a rooms romance or eclectic feel with florescent lighting or the energy efficient lighting that can be too white and bright redirect them a cover or a shade that will bring back the comfort. If it's an office with no windows bright lighting or fun colors can regenerate you during a hard days work.
I enjoy re-arranging the furniture and letting in as much natural light as possible. Changing the seating around really makes the room feel like new. A good cleaning spree helps out a lot too.
