Nothing brings a room together like a chandelier. The most sleepy of spaces instantly goes from lackluster to luxe with the addition of one of these quintessential light fixtures. The HGTV Design Happens crew wants to give your living room or dining room (heck – any room) a mini-makeover with designer chandeliers from Brooklyn-based lighting company Crystorama. Their classic designs hang from the ceilings of the US Supreme Court building and Constitution Hall.

Three winners will get to choose a design from the feminine Fiore Collection, modern Solaris Collection or transitional Hampton Collection, pictured above. To enter for a chance to win, just leave us a comment before 12/11c Monday, August 8.

This week’s question: What’s your best tip for giving a room a quick pick-me-up? A vase filled with fresh flowers? An accent wall in an “it” color? A bold piece of art? Or is it all about the lighting?

a fresh new bold color and clean white trim. Dirty white is blah – clean white sparkles! Window treatments also change a room dramatically.

clean, rearrange or just light a great candle

my best tip is to do a quick de-clutter! That and to run a quick vacuum around the room and you've got your quick pick me up!!

I would paint one wall a light color and then add matching drapes, pillows, and/or linens. Its enough to add color but not too overwhelming that you want to change it again. Also it might help to move furniture around a bit to help keep energy flow.

Fill a glass bowl with fresh fruit and you are good to go!

  6. Arica says:

a "wow" piece that draws the eye to the most attractive area of the room. It also draws the eye away from eyesores or unexciting parts of the room.

  7. Sheena says:

Rearranging the furniture can make it feel like a whole new room! I also like to move around accent pieces – photos, throw pillows, vases, etc. – to mix things up a little.

  8. C Fair says:

Clean everything, rearrange the furniture and change out accessories.

  9. Megan C says:

I add an accent piece in a bolder complimentary color or print – maybe a throw pillow, a vase, or wall art. But always something that stands out a bit from the rest.

  10. Jenna says:

A pillow with a pop of color. Simple and affordable way to add some color to a boring dull room and perfect for a pick me up!
