Remember that scene in Reality Bites (1994) when Lelaina (Winona Ryder) is about to go out on a date, and she’s wearing that cute crocheted dress, and then Troy (a very greasy-haired Ethan Hawke) tells her she looks like a doily? No? Just me? Anyway, the scene is truly cringe-worthy, but I think there’s nothing wrong with looking like a doily! Especially if you are an area rug.

Handcrafted by Jean Lee of Ladies & Gentlemen Studio, these rugs are doilies blown up to giant proportions — 5 feet! — with cotton cord rope. I think they’d look perfect in a room with a 1970s bent, but could add a touch of texture and femininity just about anywhere you put them. Someone needs to tell Ethan’s character that doilies are back in. And that scientists have invented dry shampoo.

Pinning this to my "In Defense of Doilies" board on Pinterest! Oh, the poor maligned doily. Also makes me think I should start crocheting with giant rope and make a runner for my hallway!
The Reality Bites reference? Literally….
laughed.
out.
loud.
And if this is at all proportional, I want to see the crochet hook.
