Grab a blanket, dust off your binoculars and grab the kiddos because a stunning supernova will be at its brightest in the night sky tonight. At approximately 21 million light years away, this type of supernova hasn’t been this close in visibility in almost 30 years. If the Tennessee sky clears by nightfall, I’ll be joining you with a little Oasis “Champagne Supernova” playing in the background (so fitting, right?). All stellar space-ness aside, I’ve been really into architectural salvage stars ever since my Labor Day-weekend visits to Annapolis, Maryland, and D.C. Surrounded by classic American style, I got caught up in the rusticity of the heavy metal structures settled on the exteriors of old homes. And they don’t have to be on homes. I love them displayed inside homes. On sidewalks. On gates, fences, walkways, roof vents. Stars rule.
