The 2011 US Open is winding down, although perhaps not as soon as originally scheduled to, if the pesky rain keeps having its way. If you haven’t been following along, the big buzz has been about comeback kid Caroline Wozniacki rallying against Svetlana Kuznetsova to advance to the quarterfinals (you can see all the latest results here). Wozniacki may have her eyes on the prize, but there’s a little Grand Slam o’ style I have my eyes on, too: Velvet Ribbon’s vintage tennis racket mirror.

The sporty shape of the racket + romance of vintage details + added interest from mirror = Game, set, match! Etsy also has some attractive vintage tennis racket mirror options, but if you’re interested in doing a little rallying of your own, why not make some with this DIY tutorial? As the tagline for the Open goes, “it must be love.”

These are so sweet, I think they would be a particularly nice touch in a mudroom!
Another thing to add to my list of why did I ever get rid of that. My mother's vintage Wilson tennis rackets. They made summer tennis camp futile…but would be awesome for a DIY project!
