Growing up, the first thrill and chill of Halloween was when my mother brought decorations down from the attic, and the first to go up was a set of glow-in-the-dark giant paper skeletons my brother and I would hang on our bedroom doors, their bony arms and legs posed however we liked. To get our Design Happens readers ready for October 31st, we’re giving away four Fridays of awesomely frightful Halloween decorations from Grandin Road.

Grandin Road - HGTV Freebie Fridays

This week’s prize is their Animated Halloween Haunted Magic Mirror. It looks like an elegant mirror from a haunted castle, even more so when you step in front of it…

Pumpkins, carved pumpkins, pumpkin candles, and more pumpkins. The pumpkins accessories can stay out through out the fall, and then add the ghoulish decorations for Halloween! My "new" first out Halloween decoration could be this spectacular mirror!!! Thanks for the chance!

Always put them out the first weekend after the first day of fall. First out is always a full size wooden 1800s cowboy looking coffin. Ps. that mirror looks great fun.

I have a Halloween wall hanging that my Grandma B made for me. That's first, then the things that the kids have made, Next up, anything that we have bought.

Pumpkins and fall leaves. Then three scarecrows and a flock of crows. Everything else gets decked out after that till it looks like 100% fun!

The first thing I put up is a haunted house with three ghosts climbing the stairs to the house. I made it in ceramics class thirty years ago and it's still our families favorite!

  9. Mary Bolin says:

The first thing to go up for the Halloween season is my wreath of skeletal bones. However, I'd love for it to be this super awesome really cool mirror. It would make a great addition to my home for the haunting season! Happy Halloween my friends! : )

I decorate pumpkins whimsically. some have hair and funny facial features from hot glued items, some are animals or trolls, and some are decorated with unique touches, like elegant dots and patterns, etc.
