HGTV.com editor Camille Smith summed it up beautifully: Our October Color of the Month is “saturated, intense and a real show-stopper.” A child of the ’80s, Camille is psyched to see the return of this bold hue. I think you’ll agree, its comeback feels nothing like that maligned decade. Today’s interpretations make fabulous design statements, like this 1940s McCoy vase or this ’60s Samsonite train case. Classic looks that are totally now. (And a color you probably never thought you’d love paired with regatta blue or grass green.)

Meet turquoise’s subdued but equally stunning big sister…a Pantone top fall color

Teal is such a great “ease me into fall” color. From those bold, sun-infused colors of summer to the moody, dark hues of winter. It pairs perfectly with aubergine, harvest gold, coffee and other excellent autumnal shades.Lili Zarghami, Managing Editor

Look up and you can see teal in the fall sky. I love how it plays so well with this season’s grays and paired with a bright citrusy orange.Kelley Walters, Executive Editor Design Happens

Saturated, intense and a real show-stopper, teal demands attention. It’s transformative. Just a small amount brings a cheery popm while a teal sofa or wall creates a watery, restful backdrop. I’m stoked to see jewel tones return; buh-bye greige.Camille Smith, Editor

October’s teal is more Gossip Girl than Malibu Barbie. All moody, rich and dramatic. Honestly, this stunning color is one of my favorites to decorate with. My couch is teal!Marianne Canada, HGTV Home Studio

Like teal as an accent in decorating…really like it better in apparel; it is one of my "colors".

  2. B Straight says:

PS- noted that Pick I would almost call porno above that Orange ugly couch–There are Christians out here with small children that finds that pic absolutely tasteless–. :-( I am surprised at HGTV

Are you kidding me? There is a vast distinction between artistic nudity and porn. I think you need to mature a little before you get back on the internet..

On topic, all of the designs are lovely. Teal is my favorite color. <3

Get a life…That is art !!! I guess children wouldn't be allowed in the many fabulous museums of Paris.

    • Beth says:

There are also Christians out here with small children that don't fine that picture tasteless; it's art; learn the difference. Also, being a so-called Christian then you also know that you have a free will to not look at the picture as well. Stop trying to find things to be negative about….it's really not the Christian way to be…

What does being a Christian have to do with being narrow-minded. Stop including me in your uptight comments.

    • Sc43 says:

Let's face it, we are all naked under our clothes. The sooner we realize that and teach our children to not be ashamed of their bodies the better off we will be. Grow up! And start finding things to be positive about instead of spewing negative "christian" morality. Porn also would indicate penetration, of which there is none in the art above the sofa.

LOVE TEAL! Great moody color for a bedroom.

  3. Amy Price says:

LOVE teal! I think it is a great fall color and I know I am introducing it into my home with a teal cabinet I have in lay-a-way to brighten my kitchen.

  4. Cindi says:

Interesting color combos, fun to look at, especially this time of year. Not to live with tho, for me. I'm a "winter" … .burgundies, dk purples, emerald, metalics.

  5. Brigett says:

Teal? Not a fan as a dark room color, I like my rooms to be fresh and light. Maybe as an accent color would be ok.

  6. MaryC says:

Teal is my favorite color! October is my birth month, so it is perfect for the color of the month!

  7. Georgia says:

Cannot wear the colour teal, totally drains me—so wouldn't use in decor…..

  8. Rebecca says:

I love TEAL!!! I have never used it in decorating and am wondering why! There are so many other colors to match with it – I prefer the marigold and burnt oranges………a few pops of purple in just a few places would top it off for me!!!

  9. normie says:

Teal could be an all year color for me. It goes well with white, brown, grey, orange and all other colors…Nice one for winter!
