You can already do lots of things with a smartphone — talk, text, send email, play Angry Birds — but what if you could do more? What if you could lock or unlock your door remotely, and keylessly? It sounds space-age, but the future is now with Lockitron. Take a peek at the demo video.

You can even provision temporary access for certain phones or enable people to use Lockitron through text messaging. I can really imagine this coming in handy for letting our dog walker in when we’re away, or when we have friends staying with us, but can’t give them an extra set of keys to our place.     Love this! I hate keys. Now if only it could open the door as well, I could use it to let the dog out in the middle of the day. Then I could use it to call "Inside" to get her back in again. And watch it all on video. This is starting to get expensive….
