Oh, dear. I’m writing this in a state of glitter-induced pixie coma…

EPCOT Food & Wine Festival- Erin Loechner

Greetings from Disney World!

I’ve just returned from the most lovely trip to DisneyWorld where I gallivanted from park to park singing show tunes and sharing the glory of holiday crafts on behalf of my HGTV.com family.

EPCOT Food & Wine Festival- Erin Loechner

Presenting at EPCOT.

From now through November, your favorite HGTV talent is sharing design inspiration, crafts and tutorials at the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival. Just last weekend, I headed down to the magical land myself. You’re in luck, because today I’ll be sharing peeks at each of the crafts I created for my presentation — just for you, dear readers! Can you tell I’m in the holiday spirit already?

My handsome prince you may recognize - Ken!

But first…you must know of my intense love for Disney movies. I consume them on repeat when I’m feeling sick, blue or stressed. By far the most popular in my rotation is Beauty and the Beast. Gaston is the most dreamy villain of all, yes?

Exhibit A:

No one poses like Gaston.

Yes, that’s me. I dressed as Tinkerbell, and I am not afraid to share the photographic proof with the entire Internet. My friends at Disney were so elated by my love for Gaston that they arranged for a private Gaston viewing for me (or Tink, if you will). So, I’m dedicating this post to Janson, Nathan and all of the lovely Disney elves that make fun surprises come true. (And of course, Gaston. I’ll call you later.)

Receiving my honorary pixie dust!

And now, it’s time to get back to business and share a few fun crafts with you. Presenting, Forget Fruitcake: 5 Edible Holiday Gifts!

Advent Candy Garland

1. Advent Candy Garland
This gift is perfectly kid-friendly and super easy. Simply purchase 2″ craft boxes from your local craft store, fill with candy, tiny toys, gift cards or sweet notes, and string a ribbon or twine through the open flap. Secure the ribbon with tape on the underside of the flap and boom! An instant garland. Easy, right?

Vanilla Bean Sugar

2. Vanilla Bean Sugar
Cut a fresh vanilla bean and mix with one cup of sugar. Package with fresh coffee beans and display in a modern sugar caddy or creamer set. Behold, the perfect gift for coffee drinkers!

Citrus Herb Salt

3. Citrus Herb Salt
Cover a plastic globe ornament from the craft store with an orange glitter spray paint. As it dries, fill a craft bag with equal parts orange zest and sea salt, then season with clove. This makes the most tasty pork rub in all the land, or try it on vanilla bean ice cream for a savory treat.

Pear-Infused Brandy

4. Pear-Infused Brandy
Skewer Seckel pears, and drop into a tall canning jar. Add in one cup of sugar and pour brandy to the tip-top of the fruit. Store in a cool, dry spot for one month. Add a handmade gift tag, and you’ve got the perfect gift for co-workers and lovers of spirits.

Bread Vinaigrette

5. Bread Vinaigrette
Mix equal parts water and Gum-Tex to create an edible, tasteless glue and spread onto a canning jar. Secure sesame sticks to the sides of the jar, and fill the inside with my favorite vinaigrette recipe: 3 cups olive oil, 1 cup vinegar, 1 cup garlic powder and 1 cup Parmesan cheese. Season with black pepper and sea salt to taste and gift to your favorite hostess.

Are you inspired yet? Has anyone started holiday crafting, or is it still far too early for you? And let’s be honest, how much do you love that burly Gaston?

Erin, you're killing me – you're in my favorite place in the entire world, Disney World! And the Tinkerbell costume suits you to a T! I love the ideas and can't wait to try them. Thanks for sharing :)

Now, how can we lure Gaston to Tennessee?

Erin, with your pixie-ish looks you were born to play Tinkerbell! And I love your holiday food gift ideas. The tantalizing glimpses of your home decorated for Christmas make me look forward to seeing more as the season approaches — your wintry color scheme is perfect! I can hear "White Christmas" playing in my head right now — oh no, too early, must stop this! xD

Ha — I have that same problem, CPlusE! Must fight the urge to bring out the tinsel! :)

  8. Sass says:

Several friends, sisters and I are getting together every Thursday (started 4 weeks ago) to work on hoilday crafts. It's NEVER too early! Thank you for the delicious sounding recipes. I adore Tink!

  9. The fairly is like Tinkerbell! I love Disney too! I visited there once and honestly I had fun even though I am not kid. The place is not really for kids only. I enjoyed more watching Disney Characters roaming around as they have really nice costumes and make-ups.
