What the…? “Is It Safe?”

When I spotted this object, “dentist office” is what first popped into my head. Then a sadistic singing Steve Martin in the movie Little Shop of Horrors. Followed by the evil Dr. Szell, played by Laurence Olivier, in Marathon Man. And lastly that I have a dental cleaning scheduled next week with my DDS (gulp) who is nothing like the aforementioned doctors of dentistry. (shew!)

It’s safe to say that since I’ve rambled on and on about dentists, this object is not a cleaning, drilling or bleaching tool. And while you’re likely to find this design in use in a dentist office, you’re just as likely to install one in your home.

Leave your guess in the comments below, and check back tomorrow to see who answered correctly first.

  1. Looks like a tap to me, like you'd find at the kitchen sink.

  3. I think it's a tap for a in-home bar. Something about it seems more grand than a regular kitchen faucet. Maybe soda water comes out?

  4. It's a shower head extension/raiser.

  5. I think it is a sprayer for a sink

  6. I think it's a faucet, but a special pot-filler faucet you'd install over your stove.

  7. Maybe a wine bottle opener!

  8. It's a pot filler that is mounted behind a cooktop with a little peg to rest it in so grease doesn't get inside.

  9. It's a faucet – my friends have this in their kitchen, it's beautiful, but we've yet to come to a consensus on its functionality.
