Call me old-fashioned, but I never thought of Halloween as a very mantel-y holiday. Christmas, natch. New Year’s Eve, or perhaps a romantic Valentine’s Day, sure. But Halloween? Not so much, until I saw this darling fireplace on Blue Eyed Yonder.

I see my new favorite Halloween element, silhouettes, in a prominent place, and the bunting is bang on-trend, too. But filling the fireplace up with wood is an especially nifty trick that turns the whole thing into a real treat for me.

Great way to decorate the fireplace for the holiday! It would be easy to make this suitable for Thanksgiving as well by changing just a few of the items. The logs in the fireplace were the first thing that caught my eye! I thought this was another clever way to fill a fireplace for Halloween:

I am always amazed by the creativity that is out there! I'm so glad people post pictures of these wonderful ideas! ^_^

  2. The book mobiles are neat. I bet there could be a way to make the falling pages take on the face of a skull. She mentioned "flying books" on her blog which made me think "Harry Potter" of course.

As for the wood in the fireplace; it's definitely a cool look but for Halloween I'd rather fill mine with Candy Corns. :D

The fireplace filler is probably my favorite detail. I love how the wood pops against the white bricks. I can't believe I never thought about decorating my mantel/fireplace for Halloween before…

I'm a fan of the log fireplace filler, too! I love that they have an orange sheen, and after being at High Point Market this week, I can say the log stack is super on-trend (I saw a coffee table with a glass top and exposed cut log edges…beautiful.)

The flying books are pretty amazing, as well.
