Lots of people seem to be opting (ha) for fiber optic Christmas trees this year. I totally understand the appeal. Why deal with the hassle of untangling a rat king of cords when there are “pre-lit” trees to be had? However, it seems like the majority of these fiber optic trees are going for realism, when in my head, I see those colorful little wands I used to beg for in theme parks. This tree in Beijing embraces the technology and runs with that design.

It may be monochromatic, but the way it sparkles and glows gives it dimension. I think I could be persuaded to skip our traditional tree for at least one year if something like this ever came on the market.
What’s your Christmas tree style? Live with bulb lights? Artificial? Fiber optic? Tell us in the comments!

Monochromatic is good . . . and I love that blue color! I went a little different this year. In coordinating with the organic, grapevine and greenery I used outdoors this year, I decided to continue the theme indoors. Rather than a typical evergreen tree, I went a bit minimalist and whimsy by creating a "Weeping Grapevine" tree. You can see a glimpse of it here. I'll be doing a longer write up about how I made it in the next few days.
How unique! It's sparkly and festive, but yes minimalist. It blends with the rest of your decor, rather than stealing focus. Nice work. And happy holidays!
Thanks for stopping by to take a peek!
Our trees always used to be live cut ones set up in the living room, until we got our current trio of dogs. Their first Christmas here they took great delight in pulling the tree over to get to the ornaments — what a mess! Now we have an artificial tree on the second floor where no dogs are allowed, except as ornaments on the tree (we do a Dalmatian-themed tree every year).
Oh no! Luckily, my dachshund doesn't seem to be interested in Christmas trees. I would love to see your Dalmatian-themed tree, though! Neat concept.
Do you have a link to any photos?
Ask and you shall receive! I posted a picture of last year's tree on Rate My Space just for you (I haven't set up this year's tree yet, but they tend to look pretty similar from year to year):

This is a new account so I hope I did everything right and the link works!
That is so creative! And the tree skirt is perfect. Well done!
We do a real tree packed to the gills with large frosted colored bulbs, bubble lights, vintage ornaments, icicles, and giant paillette sequin garland. It's super bright and fun.
I want to go to there. PAILLETTE SEQUINS = visions of sugarplums dancing in my head.
For years we went with simple white lights- but more recently I'm in love with the vintage multi-colored ones. As easy as a pre-lit is, I have to opt to put the lights on myself, too. That's just *part* of it all for us and I just can't say goodbye to yesterday. (Yes, that was an intentional subtle Boyz II Men reference….) lol
Vintage multi-colored lights and Boyz II Men references? You're a gal after my own heart, Lori! LOL!
yay!
