The days are getting longer and, here in the Southeast, the early signs of spring have sprung. Granted, it’s a premature spring and the brave early blooms are likely to be hit by an inevitable cold snap. Which leaves us in a seasonal no-mans-land that has inspired our choice of a color that’s still wintry yet holds the happy promise of approaching spring. This color is fresh, playful and will add a cheery pop to any room. Wanna know what it is?

Mint Green!

“I see mint as a transitional shade. At first glance, it’s cool, but its softness hints at balmier days ahead. If you want to go retro, pair mint with black or candy apple red. If you’re feeling romantic, group it with other pastels — it plays well with pink. And for a totally current take, team it up with neutrals. Like a refreshing sorbet, it’s the perfect palate cleanser between winter and spring.” —Briana Mowrey, Senior Online Editor

“Both frosty and fresh, mint is the perfect mix for this in-between-spring-and-winter month. This sweet hue evokes the romance of yesteryear, when people gathered around their mint-hued refrigerators and baked cakes and wore frocks covered with tiny flowers in soft coral hues. At least, that’s how I see it.” —Liz Gray, Senior Online Editor

“Often associated with retro looks, mint can work equally well with any design style. The delicate, feminine color adds a refreshing look to a room, or can liven up a space when mixed with bold hues and metallics. However you decide to incorporate it in your house, this color will instantly cheer you up.” —Farima Alavi, Assistant Editor

I like mint green accessories for a retro touch. I found some great vintage mint green items on etsy and put together an HGTV-inspired treasury of some of my favorites. Found here: http://www.etsy.com/treasury/MTUzNzk0MDB8MjEwMjY3

I like the color, but I would want to create a new graphic or find a different image to create a custom wallpaper which would fit my style.

I like mint green, may use it in my daughters room when we get ready to repaint. That is if she does not over rule us with pink or purple. :)

Love, love, love it, especially with a bright Orange accent wall behind it at my house!

If you love green and love spring, you will love the hammocks and hammock chairs I found at Beachside Hammocks. I bought a green hammock chair a month ago for my father in law and I can't get him out of it. Today I finally bought one for myself…sorry guys, it's not green, but mocha to go with my patio furniture. These are so well made and feel like they will last forever because they are made of soft spun polyester instead of the flimsy cotton ones. Go check them out at http://www.beachsidehammocks.com. I swear you will really like these and if something green is what you are looking for, the green hammock chair is a really pretty, deep and rich color.

Mint green is known to be one of the colors that calms people's nerves. Any color that can do that, I am a fan! We have one bedroom in our home that has a beautiful minty green carpet. We call it the "Green Room" (for lack of a better name) and it is the most relaxing room to be in. However, I have had a terrible time finding the right wall color. I have painted the room over 8 different times and have never gotten the right shade of green. Green is a hard color to work with because depending on the lighting in the room, green can take on so many shades. I welcome anyone who can give me ideas on how to match carpet. Hirshfields can not do a color match with carpet. Does any other company do carpet color matching?
