Pantone, the international authority on color trends, recently announced the color spectrum that you’ll see in both fashion and home decor in Fall 2012. With a mix of neon hues, dark moody shades, and soft neutrals, the color spectrum for this Fall will have a little bit of something for everyone. I always look to the Fall color reports to see what shades we need to incorporate into the AphroChic collection for the upcoming season, and fell in love with a few shades on this list that are sure to bring both bright and warm colors home, even as the weather becomes a little bit cooler.

Shades of Pink Flambe, French Roast, Honey Gold, Rhapsody, and Tangerine Tango all stand out to me as must-have colors for Fall 2012. They can be mixed and matched, or used alone to create a colorful impact no matter what the season. These are the types of comforting hues that you will love living with all year long.

I am a huge fan of hot pink, and am so glad to see the color back in action again in the form of Pink Flambe. It’s time to up the pink ante this year, and instead of saving this vibrant hue for small accessories, it will also look amazing on big pieces of furniture like a sofa or side chair. Set inside a room with neutral whites and browns, pink is sure to be a classic this Fall.

French Roast, a dark chocolate brown, is one of my favorite colors for Fall 2012. Being a deep and moody hue it reads Fall to me. The color is rich, and robust, and is a great replacement for the blacks and grays we have seen over the years.

Honey Gold is another favorite. The color is mellow, and reminiscent of a Fall sunset. It is gorgeous when paired with blues, like aqua and the Olympian Blue that’s on Pantone’s Fall 2012 color spectrum.

For a nice soft shade, Rhapsody, a grayish purple color, is all about peace and serenity. It can also be punched up when paired with bright shades of pink and deep purple, like in this bedroom by interior designer Kelly Wearstler. I also love the idea of pairing it with gold or brass accessories for a bit of warmth.

Metropolitan Home

And Tangerine Tango, Pantone’s color of the year for 2012, will definitely have place at home this Fall. Look for bold furnishings in this color to be on the market, from sofas to side tables and even credenzas, this color will make an appearance in both furnishings and accessories this Fall.

These are my favorite shades for Fall 2012, and I’d love to know what yours are. What are shades on the Fall 2012 color report that stand out to you?

Jeanine, Sorry this is off topic but I don't have any other place to comment about a blog you posted nearly a year ago. Thank you for the information about using African fabric. I had been unable to find the right fabric to reupholster some wingbacks. Then I read your article about using African fabric and found what I wanted in a DC fabric store. The Ghanaian Indigo print is the rave of folks that have seen them. I created a reading nook using those chairs. Since, I posted them on RATE MY SPACE.

Can you post another blog on what to look for when using African fabrics? The difference between wax prints, dyed, etc. What's the best way of coordinating when using accessories from various African countries? Got some other websites we can access?

    Keep up the good work
