• Tell Your Friends

Part of my job as Editor of HGTV Home Studio is inspiring our editors and designers with a wall installation on the Digital floor of the swank building we work in. This can mean anything from hanging enormous gold piñatas from the ceiling to this season’s installation: All About Landscaping. For this display I worked with our Co-Op interns to create on over-sized “pinboard” of sorts. I then accented the lush imagery with fun details, such as hanging terrariums stuffed with mini succulents and air plants:

A pair of high gloss purple garden tools (spray painted by yours truly):

Two iPads so you can try out some of our awesome new apps:

And goody baskets filled with burlap sacks containing seed packets of Purple Coneflower, which is native to the area. Each sack is accented with a chalkboard-painted plant marker. Pretty cute, right?

If you’d like to make these at home, it couldn’t be easier. Buy plain wood plant markers and give them about 3 good coats of chalkboard spray paint. Then pick up a “wet erase” chalk marker, and write your plants name in your neatest handwriting. These little giveaways would be great wedding favors for a rustic spring wedding, don’t you think?

So tell me, as we “spring forward” this weekend, what are your gardening plans?

I would have so much fun working for HGTV. Those pin boards look like they were a blast to make. Very inspiring for everyday home ideas and plans. :)

I'm going to finish planting my herbs and I have one other 12×24 inch planter I may plant radishes in because they have shallow roots and only take 20days.
