Is it just me or are we having a full-on macaroon moment? (Or, macaron, if we’re being technical about the French spelling.) First it was cupcakes, then it was doughnuts, but  it feels like the colorful confections are the darlings right now. Maybe it’s because they bring to mind such on-screen girly girls as Marie Antoinette and Blair Waldorf of Gossip Girl. In any case, the trend has extended to the world of design, and voilà: Macaroon Limoge Trinket Boxes.

macaroon boxes

They look just like the ones from Ladurée, but they have no calories, so perhaps they’re even better. They’re tiny, so I’m not quite sure what I’d store in them — medicine, stud earrings, coins, fortune cookie fortunes — but I’m sure I’ll think of something. Plus they’d be totally haute hostess gifts or party favors. Let them eat have cake macaroons!

So cute. I'm not much of a trinket person, but wouldn't they make such cute lip gloss or solid perfume pots?

Ahh! That is a brilliant idea! And how much fun would it be to have a make your own lip gloss or perfume party and pass these around as favors to fill up with your own creation? Love it.

What a beautiful idea!! I love macarons and am delighted to see that you can do way more with them than just eat them. :) I also have something to share on the topic with you all here: If you want to master the art and science of macaron making then you may want to check out http://www.themacaronmaster.com/ – it shows how to create bakery-quality macarons and sell them! Now that's new!! :)
