Sunroom update time! For those of you following along at home, our back porch sunroom has been a massive work in progress for oh, the last six months or so (in case you’ve missed it, check out the before video here, and an in-progress video here!). We’re thrilled to be in the home stretch and can happily report that by this time next month, you’ll see the big, final, fully-decorated-and-loaded reveal. Can you hardly wait?

The excitement is brewing!

Me neither! Until then, here’s what we’ve been keeping busy with:

Such beautiful concrete should never be covered!

1. After we hired out the drywall phase, it was time to think long and hard about flooring options. Originally, we had planned to paint the existing concrete a bright white, but after we brought in some helpers to re-finish the floor in preparation for laying the solution, we fell in love with the natural look and feel of the concrete. We’ll be sealing it and cozying it up with a gorgeous area rug (remember our inspiration board?), but I love how elemental and perfectly outdoor-inspired the concrete feels. Three cheers for happy accidents!

Window trim is up and ready for a paint job.

Such a beautiful finishing touch.

2. Ken has been hard at work trimming out each and every one of those beautiful windows. They’ll soon be painted white (along with the walls), but for now, they’re hung, prepped, sanded and ready to go! He’s a bit of a master woodworker, isn’t he?

Bench seating is almost complete!

3. Our biggest addition to the room has been the custom bench seating we’ve designed and are in the process of building. Because we want to optimize this space for family get-togethers and parties, a window bench made the most sense in seating the maximum amount of people. Even better? We’ve designed the piece as a storage solution, so it’s the perfect place to stash spare blankets, family games and books/magazines. Don’t worry; we’ll share a tutorial with you next week so you can build your own custom bench solution at home. Sounds good, right?

What a lovely extension of living space! I'm hoping to get to adding a front porch to our home; possibly later this summer – fingers crossed…
We have used the storage/bench seating in our mudroom. You will definitely love it. Congats and I can't wait to see the after pics.

This is very helpful and very nice of you to take note of each and every step. I hope you can also feature anything about kitchen designs perth. I'm considering giving my mom a birthday surprise by renovating our old family kitchen.

I'd recommend some roller shutters for those giant windows. We can't have too much sunlight and heat getting in – especially in the summer months.
