Nothing says summer like a snow-cone, but they can be messy and melt quickly. Food Network Magazine has baked up a great idea that gives you snow-cones without the stickiness — snow-cone cupcakes. Faux-cones.

To make them, sprinkle red, yellow and blue sanding sugar on frosted cupcakes. For the full snow-cone effect, place the cupcakes in Styrofoam cups, and top with wooden spoons or straws. Check out more great ideas from Food Network Magazine to help host your next summer party.

These cupcakes are so cute. Look just like snow-cones. Great summery idea.
Forgot to say the little wooden spoons make them perfect. These are different and I like them.
Good blog and great idea.
I'm going to make these! Cute idea.
Where do people come up with these ideas? I don't know but I'm glad they do. These cupcakes that look like snow-cones are the cutest things.

That much sugar would be so gritty!
styrofoam cups are such environmental disasters waiting to happen that they are (thankfully) outlawed in many areas.
Could you bake them in a flat bottomed cone?
Looking yummy
It's about time they combined cupcakes and snow cones. Personally, I'd add some cupcake sprinkles just to make things look even more colorful.
Cupcake coolers? I think that this is awesome. It would have been perfect for the summer had I known it. I would like to share it on my page: cup cakes perth.
I thought it is a snow cone! The sprinkle did a great job on making it look like a snow cone.

I hope I can find pink sanding sugar because I need to follow the party colour theme for my sister’s birthday. I will just add up little cherries on top.
