UPDATE: Congratulations to our giveaway winner: Isabelle S.!
It may seem a tad early to you, but behind-the-scenes at HGTV.com, we are busy working on handmade crafts for Christmas. Yes, Christmas. We’re like Santa’s helpers around here (everyone knows elves work year-round).
In prepping for our 2012 Christmas crafts, Brian Patrick Flynn created two wreaths that are going to be featured in our Handmade Holidays package this October. We have what we need for our purposes, so now YOU have the opportunity to win the original wreaths.

To enter for a chance to win both the paint chip wreath (left) and the rustic twine wreath (right), answer our question in the comments below: What holiday crafts will you attempt this year?
You may only comment once to be considered, and you don’t have to purchase anything to win; a purchase will not increase your chances of winning. Odds depend on total number of entries. Void where prohibited by law. Only open to legal residents of 50 U.S., D.C. or Puerto Rico, and you must be at least 18 years of age to win. All entries (comments) must be entered between 9:00 a.m. ET on August 22, 2012 and 5:00 p.m. ET on August 29, 2012. Subject to full official rules. This year I am going to try to make my own spooky Halloween Christmas Tree. I know it sounds weird, but I think it will be the best decoration in my house for the Halloween season. I'm going to take one of those cheap fake Christmas trees and spray it black and then decorate it with spider webs, and my own handmade Halloween ornaments. It will definitely be fun for the family and for the kids to enjoy!

I am going to try to make ice marbles, by taking balloons filling it with water and food coloring and freezing them. They should be great outdoor decorations.
Ive had a couple of kits to make pine cone wreaths in my attic for many years. My granddaughter will be six this year and I think it would be fun to try and make our own wreaths out of pinecones. She will get a big kick out of it, plus she loves to reuse things to help the world recycle.
I will attempt to make the gifts for co-workers this year
Im not very crafty but would love to try and make a Christmas one for our new front door!!!
I am going to make candle holders out of candy canes for gifts. Also I am going to make lavender infused olive oil for gifts.
This year, I'm planning to help decorate the family Christmas tree with strings of basic white lights, but with each little bulb covered by an inflatable, boxy origami "balloon" (which I will individually fold by hand, of course). Once complete, the effect is gorgeous…like dozens of little Japanese lanterns. These paper-embellished lights are definitely a unique and colorful alternative to the traditional, boring old plain Christmas lights! The bulbs' light is diffused through the ultra-lightweight papers, softening into a cozy golden aura. The bulbs illuminate the pretty, delicate mixed patterns of the origami papers, creating a warm, cheery glow. A tree full of these lights will provide a nice contrast to my family's wonderful collection of vintage and antique German glass ornaments!
I am going to try to decorate outside with homemade items. Maybe a large painted cut out.
I love decorating for Christmas. It drives my husband crazy that I can't even wait until Thanksgiving is over to put my tree up
. I really want to try to make homemade ornaments with my nieces and nephews this year. I would also like to make some paper snowflakes with them like I did as a child with them.

We will be making Christmas tree ornaments this year.

I'd like to make home made ornaments for my family.
I just graduated from Auburn University and have taken my first job in Nashville, TN. First jobs don't pay much, except for in experience, so all my holiday decorations this year will have to be crafty!
Mason jar homemade gifts! Planning on filling them with ingredients to bake cookies & decorating them with rustic Christmas decorations
I am going to attempt to make a sign that will hold all the wonderful Christmas cards we get, otherwise they just end up on a pile on the counter.
I'm going to try and make treats for my daughter's teachers this Christmas.
I am planning on making ornaments with my kids. Glass ones are great! We paint them and/or fill them. Great for teacher gifts and grandparents.
I found a pattern for a small cloth wallet that has a snap. It is so cute and can hold a driver's license and credit card and/or cash. It takes about 1 hour or less to make one, so all the women and some of the men on my list are going to get one!
Since this will be the first year I will actually have a real Christmas tree, I will attempt to create our very own Christmas ornaments! Can't wait!
I want to make a felt rosette wreath.
