• Tell Your Friends

Nowadays, we’re all trying to find ways to help us live simpler and more creative lives, whether it’s through innovative products or clever ideas for everyday living. I love scouring inventive design websites that introduce products that may even help me shave five minutes off my morning routine. And I know we’re all fascinated by jaw-dropping technological products that we wouldn’t have even thought of five years ago. (Shouldn’t we be getting close to flying cars by now?!) So, imagine my excitement when I came across Brit Morin‘s website/blog, Brit + Co. Every day she and her team post projects, ideas, articles and findings on everything from food and fashion to health and entertaining.

HGTV Blogger of the Month - Brit Morin of Brit + Co.

According to Brit, “Brit + Co. is a lifestyle brand that provides the digital generation with savvy shortcuts for their online and offline lives.” She considers the home a hub for our lives, and because of that, it should be more efficient, functional, creative and beautiful. In addition to Brit + Co., Brit also uses her experience from working at large tech companies, like Google and YouTube, to design and build software applications including Weduary, a social wedding website creator for brides and grooms.

So, keep reading to see why we’re stuck on Brit. Here are some of our favorite posts from each section to get you started:

Painted Glassware

Be honest — you have dozens of CDs sitting there, unused, waiting for another chance at life. Give your ultra-scratched “Now That’s What I Call Music, Vol. 1″ a new beginning with Brit’s smart CD repurposing ideas. Continue DIYing by taking on these easy IKEA hacks or by adding a little personalization to your stemware with paint pens in less than five minutes.

Magic Mirror 2.0

With an interest in the market and knowledge in software applications, Brit has hand-picked some of the most interesting, fun and applicable news to share. Everything somehow makes life a little easier and … cooler, like the Magic Mirror 2.0. And for the nerd in all of us, Brit’s “Tech of the Week” post is a good roundup of all things wired and around the web. My personal favorite: Tech of the Week: 404 Page Edition (because sometimes you just need to smile at an error page).

10 Ways to Style a Maxi Dress

Listen up, fashionistas: There are 10 ways to style virtually anything; you can find your perfect foundation shade online; you can make designer-style jewelry with washers; and you can use paint/spray paint to spruce up just about anything, including shoes. Now, head to her style section.

DIY Pop Up Cards

Last year at a scrapbooking party, HGTV Trends Specialist Monica Blair made pop-up cards look like a piece of cake. I wasn’t convinced, because she’s an interior design student and works with Xacto knives regularly. As it turns out, they’re really not as hard as they look, according to this simple tutorial. Give it a shot! And while you’re at it, check out other entertaining-related posts, like this one on non-traditional wedding dress ideas.

The glassware is really cool. It's amazing how an inexpensive glass (or anything) can be turned into something custom with a bit of paint and time. Love it! I didn't know of her site, thanks for the introduction :)
