We’re back with another installment of Weekday Crafternoon! Today I have a great gift idea for a group. You know the drill — the holidays are looming and you have a group of coworkers, your kids’ teachers, or some other group of people you need to come up with gifts for. You want to do something personal, but you don’t want to spend a lot.
Well, that is my spin on those ubiquitous tins of stale popcorn we all seem to get around the holidays, but instead of trite and expected, you’ll be giving a homemade snack packaged in a personalized tin. Also, here is a secret: this is one of the projects I’ll be doing this weekend at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival. Is that exciting, or what?

Are you dying for the Salted Caramel Corn recipe I mention in the video? Well, it’s your lucky day:

That’s it for this week’s Weekday Crafternoon! Be sure to check back in next week, when I’ll have another handmade gift how-to. In the meantime, pop some popcorn and tell me: what groups do you have to buy gifts for this year? I have to tackle my daughter’s preschool teachers and a pack of great coworkers.

Cute. The cans remind me of projects I did when I was a kid
These cans are so nice. Love the personal touch of doing something like this. Great idea and they look great too.
I was looking forward to the next video and wasn't disappointed. Love this new feature.
I love chalkboard paint and can't wait to do these cans.
So, will we all be getting one of these at the office soon?!
Love this idea, I think I'll make these for my neighbors!
You just might! I already have a head start after all.
The folks in Sunday School class would love these.
What a cute, frugal gift! I would like to try it with my favorite tried and true recipe for caramel popcorn from Fine Cooking http://www.finecooking.com/recipes/caramel-popcor… for my nana's friends. I know they will like it!
This proves you don't have to have lots of money to give a thoughtful gift. Something like this that takes more time and effort than just buying gifts means more!
This looks like fun and I want to try it now.
The tins are just great. Can't wait to get the chalkboard paint and get busy.
Yay, go Marianne! Another clever idea plus you're fantastic on-camera!
I'm confused…
Recipe directs me to pop the corn in the oil (1 T coconut oil or butter – correct?).
Then I'm to mix the sugar/water mix with the butter (?????)
Can you straighten me out? Thanks, it sounds great!
Hi CeeJay! Sorry for the confusion. You'll want additional oil to pop the popcorn in. Then, for the caramel, you can sub coconut oil for the butter. Good luck!
