I’m sure you’re looking for ways to update the interior of your home as you prepare for holiday guests. A custom rug is an easy way to freshen your space, and Vecco’s DIY rug kit allows you to create just the look you want. The kit comes with everything you need — a rug, stencils, colorants and sealant.

Here’s what you’ll need:

• Vecco rug kit (Rug pictured above is a size small.)
• paper towels

Here’s how to do it:

1. Choose your patterns and colors, and dry fit the stencils for correct measurement. Vacuum the rug before starting. Place the stencil in the desired position, and surround it with paper towels.

2. Spray lightly from left to right. Once you’re done, blot excess paint from the stencil with a paper towel before picking it up. Wipe off excess paint from the back of the stencil, and reuse it for up to six more designs before getting a clean one. If you make a mistake, let the colorant dry for up to 48 hours, and vacuum it before adding the sealant.

3. When you get the desired look, let the colorant dry. Spray the sealant on the designs using the stencils. Let it dry, and avoid vacuuming the rug for 10 days.
