Oh, my. This was a close one. More than 1,800 of you voted to help us choose our December Color of the Month. Some were fiercely Team Glitter with Marianne. Others fought hard for Sarah’s hot pink. But in the end, Grant’s icy purple won out:

Icy Purple is December's Color of the Month

Glitter and hot pink had their share of support, but icy purple maintained a solid lead all week long. Here’s how the votes broke down:

Congratulations, Grant! He won you over with his Pinterest board full of brightly-lit holiday trees and his Christmas-crazy video pitch:

Reader Connie Itzen voted based on her own holiday decorations. “I did aqua and purple with lots of glitter this year,” she says.  And HGTV Instagram follower Linali 23 says icy purple “brings out the feeling of winter.”

“I really love the icy purple. It totally reminded me of December snow in the moonlight. I liked glitter also, but not as much contrast as icy purple. Totally eye catching!” says D-Happ reader Vanessa. Vanessa, we agree!

So readers, how will you use icy purple this month? Get ideas from our Color of the Month Pinterest board, then tell us what you have planned. Or, better yet, share photos of this year’s holiday decor. Can’t wait to see!

I painted my dining room Royal Plum and accented with silver and pear green. I love this combo for my Christmas decor.
